Hey!

Where is the best place to get a tick tested? Can somebody post how to store the tick (keep it alive) and have it be sent out for testing for Lyme, babesia, Ehrlichia etc.?

Thank you!!

I always advise people to store the tick in a small caped cylinder normally used for film (you can buy them cheap at a film store) with a wet cotton ball.

The cylinder is easy to ship and protects the tick.

IGENEX test and so does Boston Biomedical (last I heard).

**the tick doesnt have to be alive. Just 'fluffy'

Hello Secondtime, We got our ticks tested at Igenex Labs. also put them in a film cup with a small cotton ball - tad of water.
Call or e-mail igenex and find out their instructions as of today. I just pull up Igenex labs on search engine and all contact info is there. Good Luck. Denise (miamilady)

and if you don't have a container, I put mine in a ziploc with a cotton ball and put it into a bubble pack.

Kara is right....it doesn't have to be alive.

I still wonder about the tick I had tested. I've had nothing but trouble ever since my supposedly Lyme/babesia-free tick bite two months ago.

I guess they can't test for every strain of Lyme!

WildCondor,

Put the ticks in a plastic baggie with a piece of damp cotton.
Igenex lab
Tick test request form: http://www.igenex.com/formset2.htm

(Download DOC form, and print.)
You can have all the ticks tested in one batch, for several diseases.

Hope this helps.
Carol

THANK YOU all very much! The quick responses are great! I have the tick in a ziplock with a cotton ball on its way to IgeneX.
