Quick question:
I have really bad pain in my legs, it was just my muscle on the tops of my thighs so I took a massager to them. Since then, the bones in my legs hurt, to the point that I'd like to just take them off and put 'em in a closet for awhile.
My question is: Do any of you go through this & If you do, how do you deal with the pain? I'm trying not to take anything for it, and I don't have access to a hot tub unless I rent a hotel room. hehehe
Thanks alot! - Kimmi
I would get some of those bed buddies that go in the microwave, nuke them to get them nice and toasty and placed them over your legs.
I stayed on the bed or couch and that was great relief.
I get bone pain in my hands. I've discovered most of the pain is actually not the bone, but pain referred from tightness in muscles around my shoulders and neck. What has helped with this is a muscle relaxer combined with a great physical therapist.
Can I ask why you are trying not to take anything for it? If it's because you are scared of pain meds, you should know that people who take pain medication for real pain rarely become addicted. I'd suggest you read the book "The Truth About Chronic Pain."
It is so important that we treat our pain. It can hinder recovery because of the stress it causes. I used to say I would never take a prescription pain medicine. I wouldn't have been able to function many, many days without them.
Bone pain is the worst. I'm so sorry. Hope it passes soon.

Aniek,
I'm a little scared of taking pain meds.
But I'm kind of thinking that If that's what I have to do, that's what I have to do.
I was over medicated in the past , so that's another reason.
If this keeps up though, I may not have another option. and I certainly don't want to make it harder on my self.
can you tell me the author of that book??
Thanks -Kimmi
Thank you for your reply,
The bed buddie idea sounds great, I don't know if I can fit him in the microwave though.. but I'll try anyway.
Seriously, I'll try to get to walmart and get one, or two. Wish I had one right now.
Thanks! -Kimmi

I can understand the fear, because I had it and I had never been overmedicated. The key is to have control over the medication. Don't get the highest dosage. Have a pill cutter in case you think you only need half.
Also, if you don't like how a medicine feels, then try another.
The book is by Arthur Rosenfeld. It turned me into a major pain treatment advocate. I also think it is important to combine physical treatment (physical therapy or a form of massage) with medicine so that you can help correct any physical problems and get to the point where you can stretch and strengthen on your own.
Yep make sure he fits, don'y get him tooooo HOTTTTTT!!!!

I make my own bed buddies cheap.I have about 5 of them for bad days. Buy a large bag of Cheap generic rice,a cheap pair of long tube socks(old soccer socks work great because they are very long), Fill socks with rice, tie the end shut and microwave for about 3 or 4 mins(or longer if needed) .you can experiment around with how soft or firm you like your bed buddies HaHaHa!!!!

I tried to reply last night , but ran in to some problems on here. I wasn't sure if my response got through, but apparently it did, quite a few times!!
I'm gonna try to make my own buddy tonight. I can't wait!! Thanks again every one, I'll let you know how it works out.
If it is still bothering me by the end of the week, I'll try the pain meds, gotta talk to my doc first.
Thanks!! -Kimmi
