Recently my heart starts doing skips and jumps when I get emotionally upset or angry.

Is this a benign Lyme thing? I have had palpitations and skips for several years, but I wonder whether the fact they are now brought on immediately by major stress means anything?

Thanks Gary.

I guess it's fairly normal then (to get the skips when angry). My temper is much better than it used to be probably because I also now know why (since the illness) I went from a pretty composed reserved type to a bad-tempered aggressive one. Now I know it's at least partially the Lyme, I am better able to keep a lid on it.

I personally feel the skips happen whenever my heart beat is faster than normal. Whether I get veryupset, scared or angry or just have to much caffeine, I get the skips. It feels like my heart just has trouble keeping up with the fast rythm.

How long do your skips last? I wonder if mine are average...

Dafje,

Sometimes mine last just for a couple of seconds, but sometimes the heart seems to 'get in the habit' for hours then of keeping up the skipping at some point almost every minute for hours.

I think it is fairly common. It could be panic. It could be stress. It could be menopause. It sure could be Lyme. For me, it happened always during an infusion of IV meds. Used to freak me out. Was wearing a Holter Monitor because of it. It's ok now. But, I have a small hole in my heart so, LD loves to play with my ticker.

Always mention these things to your MD, as LD can affect your heart, or any other organ.

My heart also races when I get upset or stressed out. Recently, I took on a new position at work. The position requires a lot of training. When I get overwhelmed or stressed out my heart starts to race and I have heart palpatations/skipped heart beats. Sometimes it even leads to a anxiety attack. I have spoken to my dr and its all normal. She has gave me some meds to better cope with the anxiety.
