Hello,

I have an appointment with LLMD on monday, and I am going to ask him to put me on the donta protocol, of 1000 mg of clarithromyxin + 400 mg of hydroxychloroquine (plaquenil). I have 2 questions you might be able to help me with:

- I have read about people responsing better to Biaxin XL (modified/prolonged release tablet) than to normal biaxin. But I have not read anything of people who took Bianxin XL as part of donta protocol in combination with plaquenil, just normal Biaxin. What do you think, shoukd I request Biaxen XL with plaquenil?

- I remember reading a long time ago from some people on plaquenil/biaxin combo that they took some vitamins (I think vit A) as well as lutein, in order to prevent any eye problems due to potential plaquenil effect on eyes.... I don t seem to remember exactly though and can t find it anymore. Can anyone fill me in?

Muchas gracias anticipadas.

Adios

Ronald

I am on Donta's protocal and am having excellent results.

2 leading eye specialists told me the same thing independently: Plaquenil does not cause eye damage unless you stay on it for a very long time. Most eye problems were seen in older missionaries who had been taking it for decades.

They said even doing a baseline eye exam was not necessary since changes would occur very slowly and I was not expecting to stay on it more than 6-8 months.

Panchito,

I'm on Biaxin and Plaquenil among other things. I like the results. There are a few people on this board that have had great results with this combo.

I take biaxin 500 3x a day. and plaq. 200 2x. I would try to get the time released Biaxin XL if it keeps a constant amount of antibiotics in your system.
