It used to be (when I was still taking Abx and NOT doing a special diet) that I felt foggy and weird in the evening...usually right after 5:30 or 6:00 PM. Now, it can be any time in the day or nearly ALL day. One good thing though is that my energy is up from in the past.
I'd like to feel "myself" though and not feel as though my actions are being done on "autopilot"!!!!!
Otherwise, if it's powder or tablets, then it's just yeast die-off [hopefully].

I've not taken nystatin before. What is this for, yeast? As I've told you in other posts, I have had IBS and malabsorption problems and I actually went through a real bad spell of not only the cloudy head, but shakiness, panic, etc.
This will be end of week 3 or 4. I have cut out most sugar. (I like carbs, can't help a bagel or muffin--but only at night) No milk, other than my plain non-fat yogurt, no cheese. Very little bread product.
I'm actually feeling energetic in the last 2 weeks.
I think you also said that you take Vivarin. I would rather drink fresh ground organic coffee. (Not that this is it).
The spirochetes may be still processing the fact that they're not going to get what they want and may reak havoc on you.
They did me too! If you are not regular in the bathroom or stool looks unformed or irregular in shape it's yeast and it's result of malabsorption. It will suck all of the important nutrients out of you.
Is this at all a problem for you?
The liquid is not advisable.

it's just SOOOOOOO weird feeling like this. I do and say things sometimes without hardly being fully conscious that I'm saying or doing them!!!
it feels like I just have a LOT less control over myself than I should. It's not as if I do or say strange things.... but I sure as heck feel like I may be doing that. At times, people have asked me why I am staring so intently at them or at my surroundings. I guess I take on an almost trance-like look on my face?? LOL....
Hang in there!!

However, and here I assume you have Lyme, 2 weeks without abx could definately allow Bb to flare.
I take abx and nystatin at the same time. You may wish to ask your dcotor about this.
I actually kind of decided to go with this approach myself (stopping the Abx for a while). I don't feel that my doc is really all THAT L.L.... he NEVER mentioned how a person's diet is critical while being treated!!! I plan to stay off the Abx until the Nystatin runs out (about 2 weeks from now) and then start taking a natural Candida cure product.
Sam
Candida by its self will make
you very sick--mix with lyme ect.
and you feel like you do--
Nystatin Powder is the most effective.
Much better than pills---
Powder Must be refidgerated
I would take meds for lyme also
if possiable..
Lyme and BaBs can sure come back fast
Why give it a chance?--Jay--
You may want to call your pharmacist and tell him/her all the meds you are taking.
They usually can run a cross check.
It may be a med combination problem.
Possibly Nystatin with ????
Just a thought.
goodluck

BJG
I DO eat a pretty low carb diet... not a ZERO carb diet but no one of course can do that. Let's put it this way... I eat a considerably smaller amount of carbs than I used to in a day. It must be helping me somehow. I think that Candida can be conquered with this approach and my results seem to be some proof of that.
I've been taking nystatin for 2 months, 2 tabs 1x/day, with 200 mg of diflucan (in addition to abx for Lyme, which I've been taking regularly for a year). After seeing your first post I noticed that I too have been feeling weirder than usual, like I'm not myself, since starting the nystatin. I just started pulsing the abx a couple of weeks ago, and maybe that also has something to do with it. I also started a strict hypoglycemic diet about 5 weeks ago. It has not helped my cognitive issues or fatigue.

SO it really sucks to be in an altered state - I call it a disocciative state, because I am floating - but I will also have an 'overlay' of depression, which will start going into a freefall. By day two, I am just kind of numb, floating and pleastantly palliated and I don't mind the feeling too much, as at least it affords me a break from anxiety. Does that make sense? It's almost like being on drugs or anti anxiety meds.
I can relate. Not with the Nyastatin but with all the weird things that happen with yeast etc/
any thoughts?

I am doing the low-carb/anti-yeast diet and I have went from 150 lbs to 120 lbs in less than 2 mo. and I am 6' 1". My LLMD has me on Difulcan for the yeast.
I am becoming very weak and can't afford to lose any more. I am supplementing w/protein shakes, but it isn't enough. I share your concern.

There is a really good book about eating well by Sally Fallon called Nutritional Traditions (or something like that, I just went downstairs to look at the title and by the time I got back up here I forgot it - ugh).
i really think we need carbs in our diet to be healthy; not processed sugar, of course, but complex carbs..
Lymetutu.. you said..
"The liquid is not advisable" when speaking about Nystatin.
Sweet pea.. you said.. "I apologize if you are vegetarians. If you are, don't eat soy, it's terrible for you."
Ok.. to both folks posting this... can you let me know how you know this? Is it documented somewhere? Thanks!
Hey there heiw.. long time no see.
You said.. "i really think we need carbs in our diet to be healthy; not processed sugar, of course, but complex carbs."
I agree, 100 percent. I think we do need some complex carbs.

There's a lot of documentation on the harmful effects of soy, both on the net and in books. My nutrition bible is the book I mentioned in my previous post, Nutritional Traditions (I think it's called that) by Sally Fallon. Soy is especially bad for fetuses, young children, and people with thyroid disease or a propensity for it. I'd tell you the internet websites but I just surf around and don't keep track. I look at the sites that end in .edu and .org, because then I know they're not just trying to sell something. :-)
I went to an allergist, they started me on shots, and I wasn't getting a better.
They decided to do a food testing allergy, and I found out that I was allergic to it!
I really liked the taste of it, but it was giving me a lot of stomach issues.
I had heard it was good for woman problems, so decided to drink it. It's too bad because I really liked the taste.
Yes some of the things that soy supposedly causes are allergies and asthma. Very strange.
It is especially distressing for me because my boyfriend's 5 year old son is fed lots of soy by his mother. He has allergies, asthma, and is always sick.
My family and I used to eat alot of soy in our diet thinking of course it was good for us. All of us started having severe allergies to everything and stomach problems: stomach pains, heartburn, gas, etc..(I would vomit if I ate too much soy) We also had a hard time digesting milk. It took awhile for me to figure out what was going on. It wasn't until I took soy out of our diet that we all started getting better.
None of us have had allergies since. All of us can tolerate milk again (but only whole milk)
Just my two cents,
Lisi

I'm sorry you had to figure it out the hard way, but I'm glad you did. That is a good point about the whole milk - low-fat dairy products are also bad for us (they have powdered milk which is difficult to digest, and do not have the nutrients of whole milk). I think that's how people become lactose-intolerant. Just my theory. When I learned the truth about low-fat dairy, it was so nice to be able to switch to regular milk and cheese. It has been a year now and I have not gained any weight.
My son was extremely lactose-intolerant at age 7 his stomach would bloat like he was being staved to death. His pediatrician told me NOT to give him skim milk that it would make it worse. He said the higher the fat content the better. And it worked.
I used to give he real cream to drink, plus he was very underweight because of this intolerance.
I also believe that we need alot of fat in our diet for our brains. It actually increases brain growth in children (I read somewhere, don't remember where)
Broguearcher --- sorry to cut in on your thread with this but.... My opinion on your symptoms are probably yeast die off. Try to detox as much as possible. That usually helps me.
Good Luck,
Lisi
I'm so glad to hear about your son. I will talk to my boyfriend, maybe we can wean his son onto milk, at least during the time he stays with us.
