I have been off my abx for about 3 weeks now, ID doc pulled my picc line after the standard 4 weeks. (standard CDC, that is) The entire 4 weeks I was having alot of herx symptoms as well as new symptoms.
Basically felt pretty crummy and in alot of pain.
Now, I am really confused.. I am off meds and my headaches are almost null. My hands and feet dont hurt. I dont have anymore burning in my legs, my hands, arms and feet arent going numb at night. I do still have the achy body but not as bad as during the treatment.
I have an appt on the 22nd with Dr. C and although I am anxious to go,, I also am feeling hesitant to go back on Abx seeing that I am (at least for the moment) feeling better.
Has this happened to anyone else???
I have only read posts about people going really down hill fast when taking a abx vacation.
My last blood test still showed Igm + and still no antibodies for Igg. My family doc thinks this means still active infection and that body still has not develop any antibodies.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
I am happy to be feeling better, but dont want to get too excited, possibly feeling better while keets rebuild themselves.
I just dont know what to think.
Sandra
You should be happy you responded positively to your therapy !
I suspect that there are sometimes, that when people feel crappy on antibiotics, that it's long term effects of the antibiotica making them feel lousy -
you can't herx indefinitely. If the abx is killing more and more bacteria- you have to get to the point where you aren't killing a big enough population to elicit the (herx) immune response.
You've reported GOOD news - Be happy.

none of my lyme symtom's left with treatment.
i continued to tell the rheumy that i still had lyme.he kept saying no.
i have 2 pos. wb.'s from quest lab's.show i am still pos. for lyme. they have been dismissed by 2 i.d. doc's.
2 month's ago i had knee surgery, had a tissue biopsy for lyme done. that came back highly positive for lyme.
so you see,i still have lyme.all these doctor's lied to me,about being"cured".
please go see your llmd.if anything, you will be on the safe side.God speed with your llmd appointment........... , gary

When I am on antibiotics, I feel horrific the entire time. When I get off the antibiotics, I slowly start to feel better, and (for me) I usually feel MUCH better, having a "normal life" after about a year off of antibiotics. This lasts anywhere from 1.5-6 years for me before I get a relapse (degree of stress appears to be the variable that determines the duration between relapses for me).
So, in short, YES, your reaction is indeed a GOOD one if our commonalities are valid. CONGRATS on improving health...
I have also been on the 4 week IV before, last year.. and also "seemed" to be getting better. And I too had the "your cured" from my id doc. That is why this time around I am more skeptical.
I had soooo many neuro symptoms while on abx I just cant believe that it is gone in 4 weeks, especially seeing it didnt permenently leave last time.
I am going to go to the llmd,, I was just saying,, It is kind of a funny thing when you kind of feeling "normal" but are going to the llmd. I'm sure he has seen this too!!
Anyways,, for today.. I will enjoy the relative normality
But,, I will also be smart about it this time and not just ASSUME that all is well in keet world.
I am really glad to hear that others have felt better off abx too!! It does seem strange to feel worse ON ABX, doesnt it?
Thanks again for the replies,, and I hope EVERYONE can feel "normal" every now and then!!
Sandra
It used to make me feel crazy too! Like, why am I taking these abx!? I'm sure if I had STAYED off, I would have relapsed. Didn't want that to happen.
you're gonna love doc C!
