Someone posted a while back about NOT taking Vitamin C before surgery. At least that's what I thought I'd read.

Anybody know??

My GB surgery is this Thursday and I want to know what supplements I should take [or not take] before or after the surgery.

BTW, my surgeon asked if I took St John's wort or gingko, or ginseng [and maybe some others..?] because they've found that these can interfere with the anesthesia and cause the patient to become very ill.

I had never heard that and wanted to pass that along to y'all.

Lymetoo, what comes to mind and what I will say here is not just meant for you. Good luck to you from all my heart.

If your blood is black and thick, it's not a great condition for surgery.

If it is too thin, it is also not a good idea.

You have been, if I remember correctly, taking heparin. You should inform your surgeon of this and he should advise you accordingly.

If it were me, I would not take a single thing a least a week before surgery. Preferably two weeks.

My doctor recommends abx when doing surgery and for some time right afterward to hopefully prevent stirring up any Lyme bacteria. Though you have been on abx for so long - I can't imagine you have any left.

By the way, when you have gallbladder/liver problems, think tonsils. Toxins hanging up and not leaving the body as they should. That's even more important when you have been on pharma drugs for very long. Neural therapy for toxic tonsils works wonderful and takes two minutes.

Heavy metals have to be detoxed or they will be in the way always. The disrupt all.

Reds beet juice thin the bile - gallbladder.

Liverlife from Healthydetox is a great thing to have in the house.

You might want to read the article about the tonsils - our garbage can - on my doctor's website www.neuraltherapy.com. If the tonsils are toxin loaded, nothing works. Goes for all lymphatics. There is no healing when all channels are plugged up.
Nutrients can't get in - toxins can't get out.

we can't just be on a killing spree for years - we need to transport the trash out of the body. It is so simple and it does not happen automatically - it takes an extra effort. Less pain and feel a lot better when things are moving!

Are you having the less invasive g.b. surgery (what's it called?)?

It depends on the anesthetic as to whether Vit. C is okay or not. The oral surgeon I went to had a big sign that said no vitamin C 3 days before surgery, because it would affect the local anesthetic(he uses a preservative free type).

GIGI...tonsils??? ... Thanks for the well wishes! I will have IV abx prior to surgery [or during, whatever]. If I'm not sent home with more, I'll take what I have here!

Lymetoo, check with the pre-op. I seem to remember that I wasn't supposed to have Vitamin C or E before my surgery. I think it may have possible blood thinning properties, but that is just a foggy guess.

Anyway, the pre-op should give you clear directions on what you can and cannot take prior to surgery.

check with your doc about ANY enzymes you are taking; they augment blood thinners of any kind.
see http://www.mucos.de and other makers of enzymes; email them and request literature on enzymes and surgeries,

btw,check sites on lumbrokinase. I think this can cause pneumonitis.

I remember once when I was having a dental
onlay put on, I had been taking a lot
of vitamin C. The dentist asked if I had been because the lidocaine or procaine was
not taking effect as well. The C blocked
it, so maybe it has something to do with
the anaesthesia or it can have something to
do with more bleeding.

You should talk with your doctors.
