I was doing 2.4 Bicillin-LA once weekly...and enjoyed the results.
I liked the fact that the buggers would 'come out play', and then get slammed.
Your feedback is appreciated...by the way...I am now coaching AND running with my oldest daughter on the hurdles...what a joy.......

I was under the impression that it was the LA that was needed for Lyme.
I think ther is a shortage of Bicillin LA out there right now. i am not on it currently, so I am not sure. Bicillin LA is what you need though. Bicillin CR is not strong enough and its short acting. Usually a shot of CR is given in the beginning of treatment and then a Bicillin LA at the same time to kickstart treatment. I would not stay on CR long term, you would have to inject yourself many times and I am pretty sure it does not work as well for Lyme than Bicillin LA does. CHeck with your doc, but I am pretty sure!
Hope you are having a good summer!

Lyme Disease Help

I'm just guessing, but I would think that after the first 3-4 days, you would end up with not enough med in your system to be effective at killing, and all the potential problems that that implies.
But please ask your doctor. I don't remember where I read this, so cannot speak to credibility of the source.
I know that is the drug that is effective against Lyme Disease. I am sure CR would have some benefit but probably not as much as the other.
Glad to hear someone is feeling so much better
consider multi-, or singular enzyme formulas to maximize distribution of the antibiotic.
bromelain is one.
check with your doc if knowledgeable or knowledgeable pharmacist about which to use, and given other meds, otc or px'd
I knew that CR would be shorter acting....
I am only going to be on it for 4 or 6 weeks.
I have switched to twice a week because I saw Condors posts about taking LA twice weekly.....thought, that sounded good since I was getting great results with LA.
While on LA I could feel positive results....but that 2 days where it wore off were a question to me.
I suggested it to Dr C on the first of June, and he agreed...but switched me to CR.
This has nothing to do with a shortage of LA. Just a switch in Meds.
I can say that I don't seem to have as hard a herx on CR. Well....let me figure this out with Dr C.
Thanks for the VERY educational info.
You have....basically confirmed what I had found myself.
Thanks,

I know everyone has told ya that CR is not as long acting. I was on LA for almost a year and it was great right away and for 6 months improved.
There is a lot of information that CR is not effective at all for the Keet bacteria. I would hate to see you go backwards but your LLMD would know best.
When California was having the shortage, we were told CR would do no good. Hope you figure it out soon. I wish I could find the info I had about LA vs. CR. If I do I will pass it on.
I will touch base with you later.
Thanks,
