Sometimes my legs feel like I've just completed heavy weightlifting and like I'm walking through cement; my hamstrings feel like a tight rubberband.
The sensation in my legs and arms has really come on fast and is quite disturbing. I'm just looking for encouragement and support and seeing if anyone can relate and offer any tidbits. I've been on magnesium for some time - two pills a day from WalMart.
Like most Lyme patients, lots of my symptoms wane so hopefully this will pass in time.
Have any of you also lost muscle tone; my legs are shrinking on me?
I had this too and felt like I was 90 years old. this is after being an athlete for most of my life till lyme 6 years ago. The weakness came with pain and stiffness that no amount of stretching relieved.
Back muscles and neck same.
If you are new to treatment, then this will improve with the antibiotics.
The pain was first to let up for me, but everyone is different. I am v. deconditioned now and just did yoga workout. Legs feel like rubber...
take the workouts really slowly and gradually
(I need to follow my own advice)
hope you get to feeling muscular and strong again soon.
My muscles where very tight for 18 years
I had several massage theripsts tell
me I had the tightest muscles they had
ever felt--So as far as my muscles
were concerned --it was like I was
working out 24x7--It was good for
my muscle mass --but it really hurt--
Now after long time on abx--
my muscles have relaxed--
this is good as far as pain--
but now I am loosing my muscle mass-
about 30 lbs in 6 months.
I am not sure this is the reason--
but it is the only thing I have
been able to come up with-
I had wobblie legs for about a month--
I thought I was going to fall down
any second --but I never did--
This stoped about a month ago.
I am slowly doing more exercise
each day to see if I can build up
muscles again--
I raced motorcycles and rode bicycles
my hole life--my legs were so big
it was hard to find pants that fit--
Now my pants swallow me up--
this all happened in 6 months--
If you figure out whats going on
let me know--Jay--
I had very bad spasms in the right leg as well. My LLMD recommended Potassium & Magnesium Aspartate. A bottle of 180 will set you back about $25. in a health food store.
I've been taking it about a week and notice a difference.
A long way to say... I have this too. The muscles in my legs freeze up so much that they have dislocated one of my feet. I think it's toasted. I'm so sick of not being able to walk, that I have an appointment with an orthopaedic surgeon.
I've been told by a number of people that the cause is neurological, but once you have the dislocation, it seems to me that it too must feed into the problem and cause others itself.
Geez, sometimes I wonder when and if this is ever going to be over and if it is, how much permanent damage I'm going to have.
Sorry, just a down day.
