anyway the drive up was hellish on a friday during beach season. Recommendation to anyone...DONT GO UP 95 on a friday!!!!
anyway...no suprises with my daughter, she is to stay on course with meds.
My son however had some interesting info.
We never knew for sure if he was congenital lyme as I had it before getting pregnant but was off ABX and feeling good for about 5 months before getting pregnant.
He had a TON of problems tho from the get go and it has been a nightmare. He is now 6 and doing really well in spite of the recent rocky mountain crap and the latest tick bite he got from out of thin air.
But what was interesting is that he recently since our last visit got his 2 front bottom teeth in. They are deeply ridged and have pointey tips. More so than usual.
THe good Doctor says he sees this in almost 20% of the congenital lyme patients. This particular looking tooth thing. So I guess the poor kids been battling his whole life AND FINALLY GETS BETTER (as of March he was 100% so it seemed) and then GETS BIT AGAIN! He wasn't even outside for 2 days so it got into the house and bit him.
Anyway I thought I would mention it.
Im tired and babbling.
Oh and Tin cup...I said to him "so you finally got to meet the legendary Tin cup eh?"
and he said " yes...she works incredibly hard for the cause." "very nice lady"
so there yu have it! You get a tripple platinum gold star or maybe you need a star in Hollywood!

I- 95 on a Friday? Yo! NOT good. And yes.. around here... on the race course to the beach.. we rarely come off the farm on a Friday or Sunday.. unless we are slipping down to the river nearby to do a little fishing. But we MUST avoid the big roads or we would be crushed as they fly past to hit the beaches.
I am glad you made it back safely. And I am glad to see the report wasn't horrible!
Question.. if you don't mind...
Did Dr. J mention OTHER teeth that get too pointy? Or just those two? Seems I remember posts here where we have talked about this in the past.. long ago. Just curious if you know.
And did Dr. J agree he needed to treat for the last tick exposure? If so.. what did he think was best? Or.. wait... didn't he consult recently with a local doc of yours? I'm tired too .. so don't mind me. VERY froggy tonight.
As for the sweet comments....
After the day I have had.. that is music to my ears. Thanks for sharing that and for telling him "hey" from me. It means a lot.
And since he was so kind... and you were so thoughtful... I guess I won't toss this computer out the upstairs window for at least another day or two!
Good luck following up with the treatment. Keep us updated of course.
And hugs to the "babies".

very interesting...guess what I was doing on Friday? Travelling on 95 after seeing Dr. J. I had just brought my two children in for their first appt. Confirmed! 2 congenital lyme kids. One of the last things Dr. J did was check my 10 year olds lower teeth. When I asked him what he was looking for he told me about the grooved teeth finding in congential lyme kids.
Sorry about your babies. Dr. J is so opptomistic about this kids getting better - it made me feel a bit better. My children, as well have been ill since birth. Only took 10 years to find out what was wrong!

But I'm not sure- are we talking about vertical grooves that run the length of the tooth
or
ridges on the tops, such as you would feel if you ran your finger over the top of the teeth.
Thanks,
Janet
teeth and her's look EXACTLY like the ones in the picture. It is her two top front
teeth too though. VERY interesting indeed. We are going to see the great Dr. J for the first time in Sept.
Pattiecake, I think I would rather take the wild ride up 95 than from all the way from
Boise Idaho.......I HATE flying, it's for the birds! My daughter sees Dr. H in CA and
so does the little one, but he really wants her to see Dr. J as he was just there with
him a couple of months ago. They will treat the 3 year old together. I LOVE the way
most of these LLMD'S work together. None of the duck arrogance gets in the way of
helping all of you that so despertly need their help.
I am still praying for all of you.

I always wondered why they were like that.
Gee Paisley what time did you leave dr. J? We were unfortunately an hour late for a our double appt. but they took it in stride and never made us feel badly.
We have been seeing him since 2003 and would never think of switching.
He loves all his kids as apparent by his wall memorial above his desk.

Doesn't seem to be any evidence they can't ignore or explain away.
That article on their website about incorrect lyme info on internet includes a section on congenital lyme. See it at http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dvbid/lyme/resources/LD_Internet.pdf

(this is a pdf file, you need adobe to read it)
Was going to copy and paste the relevant section from the article but can't seem to convert pdf to wordperfect file when saved, and it wouldn't let me copy the selected lines. Aggravating.

and have NEVER been off of pavement in their lives, live with no animals or have even
been near grass or trees? Tell my daughter who has a 3 year old that has had an eating
disorder since birth, fevers for no reason, weird looking rashes, ducks of course had no
idea what he problem was. Since my daughter was diagnosed in March with advanced Lyme
(she has had it for 14 years) everything
adds up with the little one. So do tell, there is no congenital Lyme? When are they going to get their heads out?

Pattiecake,
We were also late for our appt. because of all the construction traffic on 95! I was so upset, but Dr. J didn't even mention it. I stand corrected we were there on Thurs.

I don't know if that is so... but I thought I would mention... from what I understand...
There appears to be a higher rate of children born who have more than 5 fingers and more than 5 toes.. (one or both feet/hands) and with the web connections being more pronounced in some children... among the Ammish community.
It also appears they may have a high rate of Lyme cases compared to some populations also. Many of the Ammish folks work and spend a great deal of time out doors... and it just makes me wonder if it is possible they could be connected?

A study was done( of course not a "controlled randomized study" ) by our own Dr. J. When little boys were born, to mothers of lyme, and the mothers had the babies circumsized, the extra tissue was sent of for a quantative PCR. Guess what? LYME was present in the newborn baby boys whos mothers were still showing symptoms.
Dont tell me they were exposed by tick bite, after never having left the hospital!
