I was wondering if I swished that around my mouth instead of emptying one of those acidophilos(sp)capsules on my tongue and letting it dissolve. GROSS!!!!
There is a plain one and I think it only has 3 grams of sugar in it.
BTW, my tongue looks better just since Monday.

Some make their own, but it sounds very time-consuming.

Have you tried a different brand of the probiotic capsules? I find they tend to have not much flavor at all, but perhaps a hint of sweetness. You can also get the powder form and put it in some water to swish.
Regarding the kefir, the sweetened kefir is not a good idea. The Helios brand PLAIN kefir is better, but still not the greatest. If you saw one with 3g of sugar, give it a try. That's surprising though...was it for a cup of it?
Many people make 1-day old kefir but for those with candida overgrowth, ideally the kefir is homemade in grains that sit for 2-3 days. 1-day old kefir tastes bad, although better than store-bought. Boy does the 3-day old taste AWFUL! The milk sugars are eliminated though and it's probiotic-rich.
Homemade kefir is very easy to make, cheaper than store-bought, cheaper than other probiotics, and yet a good source of probiotics. The grains are a few bucks, then you keep re-using them in fresh milk. You just take the grains and let them sit in milk on the counter (but not in a heat-wave) for the desired length of time (1-3 days). Then you strain the grains and put them in fresh milk for a new batch. The grains will grow, so you can share them or eat them, as they are probiotic-rich.
You can also make homemade probiotic-rich yogurt. I like something called viili, which doesn't require any heating or anything. Just add a little to fresh milk and it makes itself. There's also caspian sea yogurt. These cultures will eat (destroy) each other, though, so tough to have more than one at a time in the house.

Cat's claw can also help but don't take without Dr advice - it depends what ABX you are on - cat's also gets at the bugs
Another ? When you swallow the capsules that just goes through the digestive tract, correct? Or does it go through the blood stream to tackle the mouth too?
Lynette
For oral thrush you are doing the right thing with the probiotics in the mouth. You seem to dislike letting it dissolve, but instead you can swish and gargle with it in some water. You can also scrape the tongue and swish with an antifungal solution.
Re-establishing balance in the intestines can benefit the entire system. However, if you have systemic candida probiotics alone will not fix it, IMO. You may want to read the info about anti-fungals, diet, cleansing, etc. at the link I gave.
Hope this helps,

The probiotics will not work in the mouth unless you swish and swallow. You can also get a script for Mycelex lozenges, which would kill yeast in your mouth and down to your stomach.
Think of probiotics as being preventatives, not killers of yeast.
Diflucan would kill yeast throughout the body.

I'm not sure if the grapefruit seed extract made a difference or not. But it is an antifungal recommended for yeast. My theory was kill the yeast with the grapefruit seed extract and then replace it with the probiotic.
I also increased my Diflucan during that time period.
