Never in my life have I had a positive 18, 39, 41, 58, 66 and 93 in the IGM. I just got off of 6 mos rocephin. Didn't get the IGG back yet. Also, does anyone know that for Bartonella the IGM was in range<1:20 - my IGG was 1:80. does that mean I was exposed or an old infection? The test waS done by igenex. Babesiosis, was in range and 1/2 the ehrlichiosis (the Igm was in range, the IGG wasn't ready yet). How can so many positives in the IGM be if I've been on treatment. Mind stuff still big time, heart, sharp pains in joints...I guess rocephin didn't cut it for me. Off antibiotics till beginning of August till my mind meds can hopefully start to work and I'll know what's a herx, what's me...It was too confusing on antibiotics with herxing whAt meds/supplements will work when you're on so much.
Thanks,
Cigi

An LLMD told me more bands indicate better immune function which is improvement.

The theory is that if the abx is working it drives the bacteria out of it's hiding places and into the blood where the immune system can recognize it, and then make antbodies against it.
An IgM antibody is the first response, short lived antibody (lives about 3 months) and not very effective at killing Lyme - sort of holds down the fort till the big gun - The IgG antibodies - get there.
AN IgG antibody is bigger, longer lived, and pretty good at killing.
So you want to have IgGs. If you are improving as far as symptoms go, and getting more IgG positive, then that's a good thing.

Hey BPeck-- After reading this, I'm rather confused on what my IgM means now.
I was sick for about 8 months before someone told me to get a Western Blot test. First one came back negative. I had a second one come back positive (from LabCorp) the following month (thought it was stirred up after 10 day of abx for throat infection). This was with IgM bands 23 and 41.
I thought that this meant "chronic", because i was ill so long before hand. My naturalpath was confused as well, thought it should of been on the IgG part as positive.
Can you, or anyone who understands this better than I, why I would have this show up so late as IgM?
