I have a question regarding my fiance. I've been battling Chronic Lyme for almost 2 years, and I'm about 90%. Just three days ago, my fiance came down with naseau, diarreah, sore back, dizziness, etc. It was so sudden, I thought it was something she ate...but she says she's never felt so bad. It comes and goes, but overall gets worse over the last three days. Any thoughts on Lyme vs. common flu?

Well, I don't know. Doesn't seem like a good season for the flu. But lots of diseases include flu-like symptoms.
Has she been anywhere lately that she could have been tick bit?
Many people suspect lyme is sexually transmitted. Syphilis is, and they are both spirochetal diseases.

Hi,
If this has been going on for a number of days, she should go see a doctor.
She could have pancreatitis, gall stones, or any other type of problem along those lines.
I'd get it checked out to rule out the normal culprits first.

I've often wondered about that. I asked my LLMD if you can give lyme to your spouse, and she said that no one really knows at this point. My wife has been complaining about stiff knees and dizziness lately, so I am concerned.

Her doctor told her she had a virus, but gave her two weeks of doxy as a precaution. Then again, they told me for a year that I had all kinds of things, when I really had Lyme. I'm not expecting her titer to show anything, regardless of her having Lyme or not. I hope it's just a virus.

But maybe she should have a Lyme Western Blot test done. The best labs are Igenex and MDL. You can google for them. They will send collection kits at no charge, just call.
2 weeks of doxy is not enough.
3 weeks is recommended by ILADS as a prophylactic if you find an engorged tick
6 weeks is the minimum for a bull's eye www.ilads.org treatment guidelines

Now she's added some numbness in toes to the symptoms. I'm concerned that even if they titer test comes back positive, which it won't, they won't treat it aggressively as they should.

Hi,
Sorry to hear about your situation. The numbness to toes is very concerning; I remember tingling and numbing of feet as being one of the first symptoms that I had.
I would definitely explore the possibilty of lyme...
