Just got all my amalgams out of my mouth this week. Yipee! Next step... Chelation. I've heard various things about DMPS, DMSA, alpha-lipoic acid, chlorella, glutathione, etc.

Would love to hear about your experiences with any of these or other chelating agents.

Thanks,
-s.

I had my amalgams out 15+ years ago. Recently my LLMD had me do a urine challenge test for heavy metals. My mercury was in the red zone. I have begun chelation with a mild oral chelator called Chelex. It's got a little of lots of stuff.

There is a place that does a lot of detox, email me for their site, anyway they told me the only way to chelate mercury is with IV Phosphotidylycholine (spelling?).

Phosphotidylcholine is lecithin. However they use a specially manufactured one from Switzerland, I think.

My LLMD has me take Phoschol (oil) 1 tsp twice a day orally.

Forgot (of course)- I also take oral L-glutathione, 1 tsp/day and get an IV glutathione push at my monthly visits.

If I lived closer I'd get them more often.

DMSA has helped very much. Was hard to tolerate, but seemed to have some cumulative effect. IV Glutathione didn't reduce my symptoms, but my levels came down while on it so it was worth the $.

Neural therapy/ART is next on my list.

So you have to get your fillings replaced due to Lyme???? I have many fillings and have often wondered if I have problems due to that. But I know the tingles started with Ceftin so I know it's probably a Herx and then the symptom has stayed with me. Do all doctors test you and treat you for Mercury. Is this because of the antibiotics?

I don't know if Alpha Lipoic Acid is chelating metals or toxins out of me, but it makes me feel MUCH better when I take it.

But your urine will smell weird. Small price to pay.

Supposedly, the R alpha Lipoic acid is the form found in the body, and is more potent.

I am curious, though, on the effect it will have on my gold inlay. If it really does chelate metals, wouldn't it affect gold as well as mercury? Would this have a negative impact?

Anyone?

Terri,

I don't think all LLMDs test for heavy metal toxicity.

It is controversial if silver fillings are a cause of mecury toxicity or if it is pollution or both. There is mercury in thimersol, a preservative that was (is?) used in vaccines.

Some believe that mercury toxicity depresses immune function.
