that they don't even remember falling asleep? I am starting to wonder if I am falling asleep or blacking out. When I wake up and I am struggling to wake up. And I feel like everything seems so blurry and far away. I am wondering if I am having some seizures.

I am waiting for my Mom to come take care of my kids. I am off to the ER with my husband.

So sorry this is happening to you Terri, I hope everything checks out ok. If this were happening to me I would go to the ER too.
Sounds Very scary.

Hi Mom:
Boy, does this sound familiar.

I had 4 "episodes" where I would wake up in the am, and literally pass out right in bed. Unbeknownst to me, I was having a seizure each time.

I, too, thought I was blacking out. After each episode, I would be so tired I would sleep for hours. It has all passed with the right ABX, and I have not had anymore of these horrible instances of "passing out".

As a seizure patient, I can tell you one way
of determining this kind of activity is with
a EEG, sleep-deprived or other. This can
show abnormal brain waves.

Mine generally strike the week before my
menstrual cycle and hit either while I am
going into a sleep cycle or waking up. It
feels like lightning goes off in my head
and a tremor goes down my arm/leg on left
side if it is a stronger one.

I generally feel out of it afterwards--very
tired and mental clarity is lacking.

Check in with a neuro.

Back from ER...checked my heart with an EKG, did blood work and a CT of my head. All checked out fine. ER doctor said to see my PCP and have him get me into a Neuro for an EEG and other testing.

I KNOW this is the Lyme and other bugs.

Each time it happens it has been in the evening. It's not like I am falling asleep because you nod off...but I startle/shake awake. Everything seems so "far" away and foggy for a few minutes. I have passed out before and this is NOT how I felt. When I have passed out I can feel it coming on, like everything is fading out on me. This is really strange...like I just black out.

It's happened about 5x's now, always in the evening when I am sitting on the couch with my laptop (once at my parents when I was in the living room watching tv). I don't remember any weird zaps in my head or anything. So could this still be a seizure?

Now this leaves me confused on who to see for an LLMD. I need someone that will work with me and return calls if needed. Not sure who to see now.

These started while on Amoxicillan. And now it's the first time it has happened since I have been on the Bactrim for the UTI. Should I not take the Bactrim anymore? Do you think this could happen from a Herx or is it just a new symptom being brought on by the antibiotic?

I told my mom and husband that if something happens to me and I am unconscious to make sure they try IV antibiotics on me and NOT to pull the plug. I know I am sounding negative. I just don't know how I will wait 3 months to see a LLMD with this going on.

So that's the update...gonna head to bed. I am absolutely wiped out now.

Dear Mom2matt, I'm also a seizure patient. Please from my own experience, read up on on seizures. There is different kinds and not all need to have a abnormal EEG, at my worst I was seizing 2,3 times a day, my right side would shake ,rattle and role,if I had a full bladder or bowel at the time of seiure ,that would be lost, foaming at mouth & nose, cuts in the mouth and I would sleep for a while after seizing(this went on for about 3 yrs. before I was diagnosed with Chronic Lyme & every EEG I had done was normal)Now I'm on Tegretol 3 times a day & Namenda 2 times a day(Alzheimer's med.) I'm only 51, if I only had known then what I know now, maybe I wouldn't be in this condition. Keep on Learning and don't stop fighting!!!!!!! Robin

I, too, have seizures--a type called monoclonic seizures, where I will jerk. Sometimes I can be walking and without warning I will just fall down, but I do not go unconscious.

Seizures are very scary! I would see a neurologist. Medication has mine fairly under control. Hiker

I had one big seizure awhile back that landed me in the ER.
That's when they found lesions on my brain.

I will sometimes suddenly lose all my energy, or feel like I am going to pass out.

My EEG was mildly abnormal, which can be due to migraines, according to my neurologist.

He hasn't seen my positive WB yet, though.

See what the EEG shows.

Feeling you are going to pass out and die very scary, I know....

BUT you are doing the right thing in getting everything checked out. Please keep us posted on how you are doing.
