I'm so angry.

My husband and I went out for a special coffee treat. I love decaf Honey Vanilla Lattes. When I get decaf, I don't have a problem sleeping. I asked for decaf, and the guy even wrote it on the order. The stupid girls gave me full-caffeine espresso. I know this because I never have such severe caffeine effects otherwise.

I got up after two hours of tossing and turning. I'm WIDE awake and restless, and I've been very dry. I've had a rapid heart rate and deep muscle pain.

I had a morning plan, but that's out the window now.

AAARGH. I hope I can get back to bed at some point.

Steph,

sorry to hear about your restless night. Hope you manage to get a nap in.

Been there, done that.

I've know for some time now that I don't feel well when I have caffeine, so I also try to stick with the decaf.

My llmd had me do a liver panel test recently and interestingly, my liver does not process caffiene at all. The lab techs had never seen my results before.

The lab results confirmed what my body felt like whenever I consumed caffiene. When I took the caffiene pills to do the challenge test, soon afterward I started sweating and shaking. I can't quite explain how I felt besides jittery, just that I did not feel well.

regards,
take care

Newp

I can't tolerate soda, or any type of caffeine, except my coffee, I have to have my coffee, but still yet

I get brain fog and pain from it, and still continue to drink it.

Look into "tyramine sensitivity"

I gave up caffeine about 3 years ago. My heart is very sensitive to it. I can't even drink more then one cup of hot chocolate without my heart rate hitting Mach 1.

I usually only drink 1-2 cups in the morning.

When I've tried to give it up per suggestions on this Board, I cannot stay awake to even drive to work.

I've chosen the lesser of two evils...

Drink coffee, stay awake and work.

:-(

Wow. A person really can be so sensitive, huh?

I seem to do okay with decaf. If I get coffee from a cafe again, I will stand over the person and chant "decaf!" if I must.

the other day, I went to a "famous" coffee place, asked for a coffee, saying, "...half-decaf and half regular. "

I get a cup of some real bitter-tasting *shale* by some 'Donkin' Donuts-drop-out,' his face bedecked in the sartorial splendor of "surgical blue-steel," denotative and connotative of some kind of original 'achievements' in life, but whose probable illiteracy induced him to have a friend complete his employment application to get his job.

At first, I was gonna just discard the coffee and get another elswhere, but it was so bad, i got outta the car, walked across a large supermarket parking lot, and civilly requested a refund, without a reason.

Another cashier calls out to the Chucky-Cheese flunky who served me the horrible-tasting stuff and says, "....the customer wants a refund," but said it like I was the 'nth' customer with a complaint about the coffee.

While I didn't offer a reason when I requested a refund, neither did anyone ask me what was wrong with it! They knew they were guilty of something "heinous" :P

I went to bed about 4a.m. that night.

With all the those rings and rods in his face the guy looked like the ideal 'Milgram-subject' for that 1960's study where the volunteers got electrical shocks, if they gave the incorrect answer.

If I had an old dog leash, I'd give it to the guy, to have someone clip it to his nose ring and walk him to his next 'job-interview.'

I'd be hopping mad too!

Can't handle the stuff! Stay awake and heart goes nutty!

Do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor, but I DID stay at a Holiday Inn Express!

Steph,
I like caffeine within reason.

I used the store brand of Exedrin, which contains aspirin, acetominophen, and caffeine.
It quells the aches and pains, and I'm able to get some work done around the house.

I think I would call the manager at that place and tell him about the problem. I bet you'd get a refund, but more important, make sure their policy and their practice are in line.

Thanks for all of your responses!

pq: I'm sorry you had a similar experience, though I got such a guffaw out of your colorful story regarding those who eschew common sense!

I loved the reference to Milgram. I have a degree in psychology and remember that study quite well!

Tutu: I take it you are much better now. I was concerned about you, friend! I have to look at the update. I like that you added the line about the Holiday Inn Express to your signature.
