Our 4 year old daughter was diagnosed May5 2005, and was put on 750mg of Amox per day. Last week (week 10) was her last treatment. She seems fine except for a sinus cold right now. Can we expect any changes in her?

sjones1,

I don't know......... When did she get Lyme? In march when she was diagnosed?

Does she feel better? Is she acting like her self?

H

That would be hard to say for any of us, I think. How long do you believe she had lyme before she was diagnosed? Does she have any co-infections?

I just thought the answers to these questions may help your question get answered.

I have been on this site for only three months, but if I have learned anything it's that everyone responds differently to treatment.

Also from what I have learned, lyme can be beat if caught early enough and treated appropriately.

It sounds like your daughter has responded well to her treatment, if she only has a cold and no other symptoms.

Is she a good communicator? Will she tell you when something hurts without having to ask?

I hope others will join in to help you soon.

My daughter's lyme diagnosis took about 10 months and it has been suggested by her doctor's office that her treatment could take approx 1-1 1/2 years.

I really hope things go well for you. I know it is very concerning. Our children are so precious to us.

My daughter got the tick bite on April 16, 2005. The LLMD gave her a Bowlen test and it came back positive with no co-infections. I think the ratio was 1:125. She started amox about 20 days after tick bite.

There is a good chance she will be perfectly fine!

Even if some symptoms come back, she could be fine soon. My youngest had a similar situation w/the same treatment, amox. for two months (dose higher due to age/wt.). Her symptoms went away on it.

But some symptoms returned, so she did Ceftin. The sithromax. This took us to maybe 4 months after she ahd started. No more symtpoms. Then some returned.

Then she went on tetracycline for two months. Totally better (again).

This time, no return of symptoms and has been perfectly fine since October

Overall, the whole thing took less than 6 months.

Others in the fmamily (me and other child) have been sick for years. The scenario for my younger daughter, similar to your child, was a breeze!

Hope this cheers you, even if it means you might not yet be totally done. Then again, it might be all over, given your child's age and resilience. Just don't worry too much if she has a little more to do.

My daughter was bit when she was just over 2 1/2 and has been on abx for over a year. Her LLMD recommends keeping her on abx until she is symptom free for 2 mos.

We keep hoping to get to that point and then she has symptoms again. She is very verbal and can't tell me what's bothering her.

Plus, I can usually tell because she gets tired easily and isn't herself.

Today she had a fever, headache and tummyache so I start the count over.

Please let me know how you make out when you decide to stop the meds! My email is available.

Good luck

Whoops, I meant to say she can tell me when she isn't feeling well.

It is my understanding that you should be symptom free for two moths. She has only been on treatment for 2 1/2 months.

What would the garm be to keep her on amoxicillin for two moths after all her symptoms go away. Sinus problems are big lyme symptoms. It is so much easier to do that then stop and restart later.
