Hi folks, I caught Lyme disease while in the field working and it was approved by workers comp., now they have me going to a physical therapist to test my strength and ability to go back to work amd then they will be sending me to a psychiatrist or someone to test my psychiatric prolbmes. I know it is not time.
I saw on a post a while back what second opinion folks reeally want to know. I know i can lift fifty pounds, but typing this note is hard on my hands wrist and just plain sitting here. But they probably wont ask those questions.
if someone has that informaiton on what the second opinion or physical therapy testing folks really should know, please email me back or respond on the board. Thank you, Loretta

Hi, I think PT can be good if they understand what you need and don't need when you have lyme. Dr. Burrasco's guidelines have a section about PT. I took the guidelines to the PT. It is going well. We do however have to keep speaking up when are joints are too sore that day. My kids and I go. Sometimes we can do a lot less than last time. Other times we can crank. I wish Lyme wasn't so up and down. It really is necessary for your PT to understand that or at least behave like they do. Best Wishes, Suz Best Wishes, Suz

I'm a PT but I don't do that kind of testing. It sounds like your fine motor skills are affected. There are two groups of muscles the strong fast twitch and the slow twitch postural muscles. It sound like your postural slow twitch muscles, your endurance muscles are affected. How you prove that in a test I don't know. I have the same thing. I can lift heavy things but find it hard to sit up in a chair.

Do you have a workers comp. lawyer? I had one when I had an injury at work.
The stress from the injury made my lyme take a turn for the worse. I ended up having to take early retirement, and really not wanting to.
The lawyer wanted me to continue this, but the lyme and my mental status wouldn't have been able to handle it.
He has written me a very nice letter, stating that I have four years to the date of my accident to persue this further, it's not that I couldn't use the money, but I don't have the energy to fight.
I'm also afraid I'd loose my insurance through the city. They pay 75%, and with this illness you definately need that!
All doctors have been agreeable, and I did go to p.t.,but it made things much worse!
The lawyer took my case because I think he felt bad for me. My head was so messed up that my daughter had to talk with him!
I'm poor as a church mouse, but I at least have my health insurance. I also have piece of mind!
