MY 10 year old has been off treatment for nearly 3 mos. He's had some symptoms

(muslce pain chest wall), and heel spurs.

I took him last month took him to the opthomologist and

she saw a brown spot on his cornea. She wanted to see him back in a month. We went

back and now he has multiple small spots in both eyes. Have to go back

in 2 weeks and she said she'll give him steroid drops - she's very open to the

positive ANA, elevated CPK abd lyme. Took him to his llmd doc Friday and took many

vials of blood, to see what shows up, put him back on treatment or see whatever is

irregular. I know iritis can be caused by autoimmune illness (thryoid, rheumatoid

arthritis, ...) can be just an infection but with his bloodwork indicates more is going

on. Did anyone have iritis with lyme?

Also, I'm on 300mg. mino a day - am on anafranil for ocd and xanax till the

anafranil kicks in. I thought it kicked in until the last two days, fragmented

thoughts.depersonalization back, concept of time messed up...under much stress though

with my son, moving and having to get rid of my dog of 8 years that we've had since shes as puppy

due to allergies and the move. Since minocycyine, I feel as if my wrists have

burns like when you were younger they would say "indian burns". Neck creeks and cracks,

and the regular pains that I get from my lyme...Results aren't always accurate, but

still have a positive 18, 39 and 93 from Igenex in the igm, an irregular spect scan

My heart meds and psych meds just cover up the symptoms, not get rid of the cause. Has

anyone taken minocycline to rid of the lyme (low igg to bart and ehrlichiosis) or just

used as maintenance? Just started that last week again after a 5 week break after 6 mos

of rocephin. Due for my monthly cycle next week and symptoms always get worse during

that time. I thank God he gave me a few decent days last week. Some don't even get

that. My heart stuff gets crazy during this time, through the toprol (beta blocker).

thanks for your input.

good health,

Cigi

Yes, I did have iritis about two years after being diagnosed (1997) with lyme. (six years after being bitten) My opthamologist said it was due to lyme. I did not want anything to do with steroids, but she said prednesone was the only way to treat it. It did get rid of the iritis, but the vibration (one of my lyme symptoms) I had only had in my left eye and left side of face immediately spread to right eye and throughout face.

Although I had been treated with doxy, I had not yet been able to get to an LLMD, so it obviously was still lurking actively. Later I asked if the prednesone had been responsible for making the lyme worse. The answer then was yes, but there were no other options as the eye needed to be treated.

Best wishes. Hope you get some good more current advice!

Ann

In regards to your Minocycline question, I am also on 300 mg./day of Minocin for Lyme and Ehrlichiosis.

My LLNP also added Amoxicillin 875 mg./3xday.

I have also had wrist (and hand) pain but not burning. I had bilateral carpal tunnel surgery a couple of years ago.

Have had lots of herxes from the Mino as well as dizziness (a side effect rather than a herx). It's supposed to have good tissue penetration and cross the BBB.
