I figure this forum is the best way to reach this group.

I think there's a Betty from Iowa that was on this therapy... fluconazole every 3 days, Mino or Doxy every other day plus a modulator... it was an off shoot from the Schardt therapy.

SO how's this therapy going? Anyone out there that can share some info after being on it for an extended period.?

Thanks,
Barb

edited 8-23-05: effective today, MD cut me back on BENICAR to 20 mg day for 2 wks. then down to 10 mg for 2 wks. until I'm out of pills and then OFF BENICAR entirely. He thinks it's the benicar that is causing me to have complete FATIGUE!

Barb,

yes, it's me! I'm on this combo now:

3 days of of biaxin xl 500 mg twice day; 2 days off then start

3 days of doxy 100 mg twice a day; 2 days off then start biaxin again...

benicar 40 mg day

diflucane 100 mg once daily started 1 or 3-05
=============================================

trental 400 mg. twice daily

levoxyl 88 mg. once daily

zoloft 100, 1/2 daily

baclofen muscle relaxer, 3 daily

Barb, so far, I've not made any head way at all. Guess I've had yeast infections for years but didn't know it.

I see my beginner LLMD next week; 1 yr. w/lyme meds this month. That's all I can report presently.

Thanks for the replies.

The theory behind the fluconazole combo certainly makes sense - apparently people
are faring OK on FLuconazole every day? I think some are taking it every 2 or 3 becuase of it's long half life?

I have been on the "Schardt protocol" for some time with modest improvements.

First about 4 weeks of 150 mg diflucan daily then increased to 300 mg for another 4 weeks. Then penicilline VK 1000 mg daily for 4 weeks. and then restart the fluconazole for 50 days. That is where I am at now.

No spectacular results but some definite improvement which makes me very happy.

Adios

Ronald

here's my current regimen;

200mg flucanazole

10,000 units heparin twice daily

20mg Benicar twice daily
(Herxed....oy)

Mepron 2 tsp/Zithromax 250mg x 3
(Switching to Ketek from Zithro Soon)

Flagyl-500mg each meal (Started pulsing on Fridays and Saturdays this week...was full-time for a long time)

I herxed for 5 weeks on the Flucanazole protocol...I have a huge issue with yeast.

In fact...so much so that I had to stop my beloved XanGo....which KNOCKED out my depression and neuro stuff.

So...I continue to battle Arsenic also....DMSA every other weekend 100mg every 4 to 6 hours a day for two days then back off.

yep...I am walking drug store.

I am also rifing on occasion.
(Don't herx as often as in the past.)

My husband is using this protocol with great success. For some reason, men are predisposed to more GI upset from the diflucan and don't tolerate it as well as women do, especially in the beginning stages.
