Infused Rocephin this afternoon and noticed my clothing was all wet. Looked at the site where my PICC line was and the entire line had snaked its way out. Arrgghh! Go figure.

Hadn't caught it on anything, absolutely no explanation as to why it came out.

I 'get' to have a new line inserted tomorrow.

The other problem I'm having are nightmares. Mind you, I'd literally stopped dreaming when I was infected with lyme 22 yrs. ago. Having gruesome nightmares every morning, usually around the same time.

Two things come to mind:

1) My dose of rocephin was recently increased from 1gm/10ml to 2gm/20ml.

2) Going through menopause.

Has this happened to anyone else? Any thoughts as to why I'm having such vivid nightmares? They're so vivid that the essence of the dream stays with me for an entire day sometimes.

God, I had forgotten that..

Yes, I had horrid nightmares in early treatment..God-awful.

they will go away with continued address of the illness.

Sorry to hear about your PICC line. I'm on my 3rd since last November. There should be some way of securing your PICC so that this won't happen. I didn't have the nightmares on Rocephin. I did have the gory nightmares when I was on Tindamax. But then, the doctor had me stop that and the nightmares went away. Good luck and hang in there. You're not alone. Bill

My sons picc line is stitched to the outside of his arm. Then there is a dressing that covers the entire area.

Was yours stitched to your skin?

Yikes! I've kinda dreaded that! I forgot the other day that I was "tethered," as I like to say... Dashed off to grab something outta the fridge, the whole thing (pump, etc) crashed to the floor. I looked in horror at my arm as I felt the yank, and lo and behold, it had somehow held.

The little mini-loops they put in the tubing and "nailed down" with adhesive tape seemed to absorb the shock, so that the insertion point itself didn't take the hit directly.

Nowadays I pay attention, even though they told me it wouldn't be that big a deal if it came out.

Sorry to hear of your frightmares; haven't had those. Hope they cease and desist and sweet dreams fill your pillow soon.

Thank you all for the reassurance. The nightmares must be lyme-related then. Rocephin is really stirring things up, so I'll take that as a good sign.

My line wasn't stitched in, but I wonder if they'll do that today? The infusion nurse did mull it over at her first visit, but she didn't think it was necessary.

Good thing my husband is a gentle soul. Once I awaken from my nightmares I typically have to use the bathroom and must tromp down 15 stairs to get there. This huge old creaky house can be very scary after a nightmare. I'm so frightened of the boogeymen in my dreams that I wake my husband to escort me to the bathroom. He always obliges. Bless his heart, I truly don't know what I'd do without his support . . . and yours!

My kids use a stat lock (no stitches). They have it changed each week with the dressing change.

I had the terrible nighmares too.....got better with rocephin. Good luck with the new PICC insertion....sorry you have to go through that again.
