I recently had a portacath implanted in my chest and never felt any medication. They kept giving me more and figured it would work soon. It did not. They went ahead and did the surgery anyway...and I feel traumatised.
I have thought back and remembered other times; I had been on demeraol IV pump following surgery that did not work; Meds for a colonoscopy and a spinal tap.
Has this ever happened to you or anyone you know?
Please let me know. I am concerned if this is a Lyme problem. Thank you.

I haven't had this problem but I wanted to bump this up to the top.

I had a port put in over a year ago (still have it and it's been great). The conscious sedation made me quite loopy (I was given versid and demerol, I believe) and the local anesthetic worked fine - I only felt some pressure and pulling but no pain. I'm sorry you had to deal with something so traumatizing. Did the local work at all or could you feel the whole thing?

Peace and healing,
Annie

I've heard that some Lyme patients metabolize pain meds or anesthesia more rapidly than others. I don't have any documentation of that.

hope you are doing better now???

Do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor, but I DID stay at a Holiday Inn Express!
