Hi guys,

How can I sleep a bit better? I do use Tylenol PM, half of one, whole one makes me groggy...Sometimes Nyquil....Like to get that 6 hrs, to 8 hrs..Sleep is improving though....Starting second months supply of Amox. 1500 mg's a day! Does being a bit anxious bother us? Could it alos be the lyme trying to make my life difficult where I have been taking the meds steadily? I hope you are all well. No caffiene or sugar for me!

Hi there - some people use Benadryl for sleep. When my son was a teenager, even his doctor recommended it when he was going through an insomnia period. Why don't you ask your DR? There are many SAFE meds out there to help you sleep.

I usually read when I get in bed. Even if I fall asleep face-down in the book, at least I'm sleeping.

Hope you won't be counting sheep for much longer. Take care.

Basically, it's the Lyme causing it. It affects the brain in negative ways. Hopefully, yours will be a temporary thing.

Tylenol PM contains 2 drugs-tylenol and something like benadryl to make you sleepy.

If you don't need the tylenol for pain you may wish to buy the single ingredient sleep aid. CVS has generics that are cheaper. Read the labels.

Besides, Tylenol is rough on the liver.

I have a terrible insomnia problem and need prescription drugs to sleep. Maybe someday I'll be able to get by with OTC sleep aids.

Hubby takes (3)5HTP and also (1 or 2) 5mg melatonin (not timed release but sublingual to help him fall asleep fast). Have tried many herbal things in past but right now this seems to be working and he has actually slept through the night for about a week now without having 1 or 2 seizure-like episodes per night.

I could probably count on one hand the number of nights he has not had a spell during the last 2 plus years so this is a huge improvement!

I also take melatonin at night. I start with 1 mg then if that doesn't work, I take a second.

I hope you're able to find some relief in some of the suggestions. Insomnia is awful, and worse with Lymey emotions.

My son and I take Trazodone for insomnia. He takes 100 mg and I take 75 mg.

Trazadone is the 1st sleep med I tried and it works really well for me. My son tried many sleep meds before Trazadone. My son can not take Benedryl because it keeps him awake and makes him very agitated. If he takes Melatonin, he has sleep paralysis in the morning.
