Here I have been so glad and excited that austin was doing so well and getting better. I guess I got my hopes up too soon.
Austin as you all know has been feeling pretty good lately. Well about 4:30 he started saying he was so tired. So I felt his head and he was warm. Well he spiked a fever of 102.
His nurse was here today and did the dressing change for picc line and took vitals and labs. He was fine. Well I called Dr J and he said to alternate tylenol and advil until the fever comes down. Not to give him meds for a few days til they get labs back and see what his WBC is.
I am worried as usual now he had two co infection test done which were negative. Maybe he is co infected and its one they didn't test for. Thats the only thing I can see would give him the fever right?
Please any input is great. Thank you guys so much.

Has he been going to school? That is, has he been around kids from whom he may have gotten a virus or something?
He could be herxing. I'm sure a herx can cause fever. So yes, stop the abx until he is better and like Dr J said, until the WBC comes back.

No he is not in school Dr J recommended he be home schooled for atleast two months.
Austin was herxing the week he started his new meds on Aug 19th that week he herxed pretty bad.

Can u herx more than once in 4 weeks time? He was herxing the week following the new meds which was the week after the 19th.

How old is Austin? I hope he is better as we "speak".
My kids and I herx any ole time. We do the once a month thing, but other times too.
It is really hard to tell if its a virus or herx. And then a virus can make the lyme symptoms worse...I-YI-YI.
I have told myself and kids that this fever, fatigue, aches--whatever we are going through is a sign of killing the lyme and therefore partly a good thing. I believe it now and this helps me go on...

So sorry to hear Austin is sick with fever, but very glad he is feeling better at this time.
My son and I can herx more than once a month and with fevers too, but it can be real hard for me to tell if we are herxing, or just have the flu...sometimes I never figure it out. Good luck to you both.
