Hi all,
I have had hair loss recently. In the past 5 years my hair has gone through 4 cycles - loss, stop, regrowth... The other 3X my hair has always come back strong. This time it seems that the loss is a lot worse. Last time doxy, minocin, and tinidazole turned it around. Any thoughts on how to stop this... I have tried everything and am not taking anything new - supplements, etc. Any thoughts? Do not want to resort to a hair transplant only to have that fall out... I can deal with all other lyme symptoms but this one crosses the line!
Thanks.
Ed

Hey, Ed!
I'm glad you're posting about this. I've been experiencing quite a bit of hair loss with Lyme, and, so far, it doesn't seem to be stopping.

I was actually heartened when you said that in the past, your hair has always grown back. Mine used to be extremely thick; now it's very thin.

Andie

ps: I'm older than Jay! [Wink]

Hi, my hair started to fall out when I was 20 and stayed very very thin until I was about 40, when I started taking B COMPLEX injections. I was one of those hat ladies - never left the house bare-headed, so to speak and I had a great hat collection.
Then, my hair came back.
I got the injections for $15 at the Naturopath and I got them every 3-4 weeks.
Worked great. Oral didn't do a thing.
Later, after taking doxy for several months, I was told to stop the injections and supplement with folic acid. I cut the folic acid pill into 4 pieces and take them every 6 hours with my EPA and that worked, too. My hair has been "near" normal for a year now. I still go thru the cycles and in fact have recently thinned some again and I am looking to try oral B Complex again. I had an absorbtion issue that is now resolved so I am going to try the oral again.
Hope some B Complex works for you, too.
BTW, just B12 didn't do a thing for my hair.
*Bit*

I've just this last week gone through one of those hair loss cycles. Every time I wash my hair I've noticed huge amount going down the plug hole... it was just starting to grow back nicely and it's looking all thin & limp again. I've just started on Cefaclor so I'm hoping that will help. At least the winter is coming so I'll be able to wear a hat again!

Plaquenil caused hair loss. When I stopped it, the hair loss stopped, thankfully!

My hair fell out in clumps when I was sick, and stayed put as soon as I got on the right abx.

I was shedding like a lab while on IV meds. My hair came out in handfuls and I got a bald spot on the back of my head. It did grow back when I switched meds. Am experiencing a bit of it again now back on Babs combo.

Vitamins can help.
