Hi, I need your help. I will hopefully be starting IV antibiotics soon. As long as my insurance approves it.
My problem is I see a doctor in Missouri and he said that I should try to find a doctor here to help monitor my IV. If not I will have to drive down to Missouri once a month to see him.
Does anyone here use a Minnesota doctor to monitor their IV's? I don't have any that will help with the lyme.
Please help I don't want to drive to Missouri once a month if I don;t have too.
Help!!

Good luck with finding a doctor in MN.
We live in Woodbury and couldn't find a doctor to prescribe or monitor IV antibiotics.
We travel to MO every 4-6 weeks. Both of my kids are on IV Primaxin.
My kids have been so sick and their LLMDs have wanted them on IVs for about 3 years. When we finally found a home health agency to administer the IVs, we decided it was what we needed to do.

There are good home health services (Avia, I think). Nurses come in once a week with everything you need and flush out the PICC line. I know one patient who was very please with this service. They take insurance.

We use Health East Home Healthcare. The nurse is here every Monday to change the dressing and draw blood. We administer the IVs 3/day.

Do you guys know the approximate $$$ amount of the home health agency to come in? Would it be cheaper to drive to Missouri?

I don't know the cost of home health. So far, our insurance has paid for everything and we don't see the bills.
Even though we have home health, we are still required to see Dr. C every 4 - 6 weeks. We do not have a local doctor that would prescribe or monitor IV antibiotics.
