I read a post about this...

Does anyone know if this is true about one sided symptoms? That you caught the infection early on?

I've never heard that before.

I SERIOUSLY doubt it. I have one-sided symptoms and I'm VERY late stage. MANY Lymies have one-sided symptoms.

GC,
About two years ago, I started having numbness in my right foot when I would walk any distance at all.

x-rays, MRIs, a bunch of different specialist, and nobody could figure out the cause.

During that same period, I kept experiencing carpal tunnel stiffness, again in my right hand.

Last February, my right knee gave out on me completely -- swelled to about three times its size and made it difficult for me to walk. More MRIs and X-rays and doctors showed nothing.

Sometime last spring, the numbness shot into my right arm. This prompted docs to prescribe a brain MRI. Again nothing.

It was finally my acupuncturist who suggested Lyme and got me to this site and ultimately to my LLMD and treatment.

Nine years ago, I had been bitten by a tick, had a bulls-eye rash, went immediately to the doctor. I was given 10 days of antibiotics. The rash disappeared, and I figured that was that.

Unilateral large joint arthritis was the primary symptom that tipped off the acupuncturist.

By the way, I've subsequently tested CDC-positive for the disease. My symptoms now are physiological, neurological (nasty!) and psychological.

Hope this helps!

Andie

My husband also has the neuro on the right side. He has the joing and muscle issues on both but the paralysis in on the right side only. He also gets really bad migranes so bad he feels like his eye is going to pop out, and that too is on the right side only. He is in his late stages of lyme too...

I was bit by 4 ticks at once two or three years ago but never had any problems until now.

Does this mean I am in late stages of lyme? I never had any weird aches pains or anything - It all hit me like a tornado about 3 months ago. I have been on 200 mg of doxy for almost three weeks and I seem to be improving a bit.

I must note that I was on doxy for 15 months for my complexion so I actually was on antibiotics for a long time. I didn't have any problems until about two weeks after stopping the doxy. I am now back on it...

Late stage? Early Stage? What do you all think?

you need to go to the lyme page that shows the different stages of lyme,if you have late stage you would surely know, you would have the symptoms, and wouldnt need to ask.Im hopeing you never get to late stage lyme.

Thanks for the links Lisi!

8man12,

Well I never had the rash and I am hopefully in second stage lyme still.

I am just worried because I got bit so long ago by the 4 ticks (a few years ago). Actually, I got bit about 10 years ago on the neck by what we thought was a deer tick - got treated with a few weeks of antibiotics and never got any symptoms then either.

I have joint pain, constant cracking of joints, headaches, pelvic pain, eye pain, fibromyalgia, balance problems, muscle tension, shoulder pain and cracking, constant pain in arm, along with many other strange symptoms (all on right side).

But this all started just three months ago and hit me like a tornado - everything comes and goes and migrates around. I intially had a ton of anxiety and disturbed sleep but that has gotten much better since I have destressed a bit.

I guess my question is, if lyme lays dormant for years with no symptoms - and then the symptoms all of a sudden come on abruptly, is it considered early or late stage lyme?

I am confused.

Going by your symptoms... my guess would be late stage. The Bb can be dormant for years, while still having a field day in your body. You may have never known it. I sure didn't.

Here is another link... very intersting.

WOW...

Thanks for that link!

Although I must say I am pretty sad now. I was hoping I caught this thing early enough to be treated properly - sounds like I am in this for the long haul! Not what I wanted to hear.

I better get myself to an LLMD ASAP because I am only on 200 MG of doxy.

you can still recover from "late stage" lyme

Yes! Absolutely get to a good LLMD. Don't worry about the long haul now.. Many of us have been there.

I have had LD for close to 39 years UNTREATED. I have been in treatment for 9 months and I am improving. And improving on very low doses of abx. If you are in late stage you may not be able to tolerate higher doses. So be careful you may have to ramp up.

Come here often if you have questions, there is numerous amounts of information here.

Take care,
Lisi

Trish,

Here is Lisi's post that has a link to all of the stages. The person who posted actually copied and pasted all of the stages so you can just read the post itself.
