Just wondering if anyone else experiences joint pain in all their joints. I was told by my primary dr. that this is not typical of lyme arthritis. still waiting for my llmd visit. There are times when every joint in my body hurts but never any swelling.

Also, anyone else experience costochondritis (pain of the ribs and chest plate) with lyme??

I've had pain all over. Many times the pain will migrate from joint to joint with Lyme, but there are no rules for what will hurt next when it comes to Lyme!

Here's info on costrochondritis.

Rubicon,
I can relate to all you are saying. Costochondritis was one of my first sx. that lasted a long time. But it is one of sx that is now gone after being on abx.

As for the joint pain not all of them hurt. It was mostly on just my right side but now has migrated to the left. I think some of it was a lot of muscle pain. Only after starting abx has my joints become swollen. (Otherwise no swelling.) Especially in my hands.

It's very frustrating.

My husband has joint pain in knees, hips, neck shoulders and elbows - but it has never reached wrists or ankles. He finds that the skin on his knees and elbows sometimes looks very red and sometimes as if there is an old bruise (sort of pale yellow/brown). The colouration comes and goes but seems worst after minor exercise or driving. He has never had swelling or stiffness but every joint is noisy, cracking and clicking whenever he moves. Does this sound familiar?

I have had pain in every joint in mt body at one time or another... toes, fingers, jaw, hips, neck, ribs, knees, thigh, back, ankles, elbows, wrist.... You name it, I got it. But never any swelling.

It has gotten ALOT better since treatment began 9 months ago. I don't have knee pain any longer! [woohoo]

Good luck with your LLMD appointment, I hope you get into some treatment soon.

Lisi

Hi,

Shoot. I'm sorry that you got this.

We see same dr. J. and are very happy so far.

I don't live too far from you. Have you seen on support section here that there is a support group that meets in Raleigh? I have not attended, but usually these groups, like this sight can be an awesome crash course on treatment. Also source infor on what is available as far as help around here.

Yes and yes. Costrochondritis was among the many problems that appeared in the six years before I had an official lyme diagnosis. My joint and muscle pain was first on left (side of bite), then on right side. Mostly knees, shoulder, neck. There was never any swelling except once when shoulder was so bad it was almost "frozen" Six weeks of physical therapy saved that shoulder, but the knee developed a bony lump from lack of timely treatment. Orthopedic surgeon says I will need knee replacement one day. However, I think it is better due to continued lyme, so maybe it will be OK

When I finally started adequate treatment, the costro chondritis and pleurisy episodes disappeared. My LLMDs have said It was really inflammation from the untreated lyme.

Good luck!

Ann

I tested neg too but LLMD said the testing is unreliable and my sx were classic Babs. The proof was my significant response to treatment.

I've had bad rib pain for almost a year (from Lyme). It is worst from 6-11 pm then late at night it stops and in the morning I feel fine. It is improving and recently I had several weeks with almost no rib pain. The pain has slowly migrated from the right side to the left.

I have fleeting joint pains but no swelling. There might be a sudden pain in my knuckles or 10 minutes of pain in my knee. It moves around.

Hatsnscarfs
