Hi citrus, Welcome to Lymenet. So sorry you need to see Dr J, but you're so fortunate to have an appt with him.
How long have you been sick?
He's treating my 13 yr old grandson. I've gone to 2 of the appts. The first appt was about 2hours long & we had his undivided attention the entire time.
Dr J and his staff are wonderful!! He's very soft spoken & so concerned about all his Lyme Kids.
I recommend you have copies of any lab work you've had done.
Try to organize a concise time line and description of any important info about your illness. I'd make it more like an outline so it wouldn't be real wordy & time consuming to read.
Contact his office and ask what they want you to do to prepare for the initial visit.
Since it's difficult to get through on the phone, it will probably be easier if you Fax all your questions. Either way is fine.
If you need the Fax Number, e-mail me & I'll send it to you.
I can't remember, but he may have asked that info be sent prior to the appt so that he could read it before seeing my grandson.
Keep in touch & ask as many questions as you need to. Someone here usually has the answers.

Hi,
He will need a urine sample so make sure you do not (as my aughter did) use the bathroom right before the appointment.
He will need to take quite a few vials of blood (I think 14 for my daughter) and we already had positive Igenex tests upon going there.
He is sweet and other then the blood tests, the appointment is harmless. ALL the kids love him. If you do use mail order for you RX meds you need to let him know in prior to writing the scripts so that he makes it for a 90 day supply. (I always forget to do this).My mail order charges me the same copay for 30 days or 90 days.
The office staff is SO SWEET I usually bring cookies or some goodie for them to eat.The Ronald Mc Donald House is excellent for staying overnight...........clean and safe and all the comforts of home.much better then a hotel and only $15.00 per family per night.

My daughter sees Dr. J too and like everyone else, we all love him. You asked about fees. For blood draws at his office there is a $75. fee that we pay that day. If we take the script and have it done when we get home, our insurance covers the entire cost. We always pay for the appt that day and our insurance reimburses about 1/2. If he orders Igenex testing, and they draw it there, you also have to write a check to Igenex to go with the samples. You may want to ask what to expect before you get there.
It is all worth it though!!

The number for the Ronald McDonald House is 1-203-777-5683. You need to call ahead as they do fill up. We always make reservations when we are leaving for the next appointment. It is walking distance to Dr. Jones office.

His office is in New Haven correct? Is the train station anywhere near there? Would you mind emailing me? I have a few questions about a visit and would like to get his fax #. I have been trying to call last Fri and Sat. The phone is busy during his office hours.

Hey - good luck w/ your appointment.
I ditto the Ronald McDonald House - we have stayed there numerous times and have always been very comfortable.
This last appointment, Katie did have labs and we had to pay the $75.00 draw fee, $180 IGENEX testing fee for the test they ran and a $25.00 MDL fee for something else besides the appointment cost. I don't normally take cash though - credit card!! LOL
For any doctor visit, I have a form in the computer we can update right before the visit that lists medicine, who prescribed it, what it is prescribed for and the dosage. Also, there is a chart of symptoms and a place for questions and things we need filled out or signed.
I try to send a letter in about 2 weeks before the appointment kind of giving a summary of what has been going on w/ Katie. This seems to help Dr. Jones as he prepares for your visit - WHICH HE DOES!!!
Also, if you need documentation for school etc, have that info ready! I hope your visit goes very well. I think you will be pleased once you meet him and the staff!!
Oh and if you are up for pizza - we LOVE "Abates Apizza" over on Wooster Street - muy GREAT!!!
