I didn't know I was pregnant when I had my two bio children. Does anyone know for sure if Lyme is transmitted during pregnancy???
I have asked my PCP, the pediatrician, the I.D. Doc, and others, could this disease be transmitted to my 7 and 4 yr olds via pregnancy? I was told NO. They said the child would actually have an immunity to the disease - but...
I am having a hard time believeing them. I am seeing a LLMD in georgia tommorow who will run some tests on them. I just want to be prepared.

It is the LLMD opinion that, yes, it CAN be transmitted. So, off for more blood we go...
anyone have pregnancies where Lyme was/was not transmitted? care to share that info with me? Please email at [email protected]
or here at lymenet

blessings,

As close to giving you an answer that I can get is my experience. I contracted lyme at about 13 although I never knew until a couple of months ago. I have had 2 children, one is confirmed to have lyme and the other is very sick and has yet to be tested. His diagnosis is CFS still.

Neither of my kids showed real obvious signs of being sick until their early teens. As I look back, especially with my daughter she was pretty sick at about 5 on. Missed tons of school. That let up and then the pain and fatigue started up at about 15.

My son started feeling fatigued and having endless swollen glands by about 16. He had some odd gland problems earlier, but never put the two together.

We are on our 3rd generation of kids. I have 3 grandchildren, and one on the way. Two each from my son and daughter. I am most obviously concerned about my daughters babies. At least we will be prepared this time, if they start showing symptoms.

According to the CDC only if you are infected while pregnant.. therefore you must be pregnant when you are bit by an infected tick.. which to them is highly unlikely.. ok now go here,

I ask this question:
if you are infected prior to the pregnancy and never diagnosed or treated then you still carry the bug, so I'm sure it is passed..or tell me why you can not transmit it to an unborn child if you have it while pregnant.. is there some bubble that protects the child from your blood and body fluids.. something there does not make sense to me... so there is a hole in what they report...

After all they never tested for this disease my entire life time so who is to say of the 52 ticks I was bitten by as a child I did not contract it then and was never tested and never treated for it and now I have infected my children with it... okay so then the fault lies on the medical community that they did not do their job as best to their ability since they never ran a test on people when this outbreak came to be in 1976... how many have been infected and never tested????

are they afraid of a major lawsuit because they negated to test everyone who was bit by tick? Are they afraid that everyone found to have lyme disease will file a negligence lawsuit? what is going on here.. there are too many loopholes in this whole logic of the CDC.. then you have to ask why did they take out bands to test for in 1990,, I think it was 1990.. because too many tested positive.. what gives .. and now they have the edacity to argue the treatment...

I've been here 5 yrs and have heard PLENTY of people say it happened to them.

You can do a search here by clicking on the little word "search" above.

Hopefully, you will hear plenty of first-hand knowledge here.

I don't think there is any scientific evidence, and that is what your drs are going by. They haven't heard the stories those of us on this board have.........and how would you prove it?

I have had lyme for a long time but it was misdiagnosed as CFS/FMS. My daughter has been sick since she was 14 and she's 23 now.

I knew when I figured out what was wrong with me that she would have it, too and I was right. My husband also has it and I'm pretty sure my 26 year old son has it but hasn't been tested yet.

My LLMD said I gave it to my daughter and I also believe I gave it to my hubby. There are so many here with similar stories. Sorry you are having to go through this.

Take care,
Sapphire

I knew a woman whose stepmother had Lyme, didn't know it, and became pregnant. The baby had many disabilities attributable to the transmission of the bacteria.

I didn't know I had it and now my 8 and 4 year old have it. Eight year old had Bells-palsey at his 6-week well baby. I ake ddoc why babies lip dropped and was told that the doc was sorry my child isn't symetrical enough for me.

Dr. Jones has diagnosed both children with Lyme disease.

I'm in East Tennessee. I will be home tonight--email me privately and I will give you my phone number if that will help you.

Lymetoo,
I'm aware that it was recognized in the 1800's in Germany so that woudd mean that it was here in the USA most likely far before it's recognition..

I still think there is a solid link to LAB 257.. and it was an experiment that the government goofed up on... security of these sorts should never be ignored.. and lack thereof; we all suffer the results..

Janet,

MDL found nothing on my eldest son.. found PCR + on my youngest... but Igenex bands on my eldest..

Quest finds nothing on the boys.. finds intermittant ones on myself.. never the same ones.. I have a total of about 7 different ones to date....
I cant wait to get insurance and a pay check I want to get an Igenex on my youngest and myself along with a Bowen on all of us....just to confirm in my own mind how rotten a hand we've been dealt...with these conventional tests

he is better now, after 2 adn /2 years of abx..yes, it can be passed via uterero and breastmilk...read dr. b's guidelines too
