This time of year is usually when I get my flu shot. I have asthma and now I'm wondering if this will do me more harm.
Thanks in advance, Stella Marie

Flu Vaccine Not Working--CDC Admits. What are Your Options?
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) had two choices when it came down to which flu formula to use for winter 2003. Should they stick with the same formula used last year in 2002, knowing that a new strain of the bug was developing? Or should they attempt to make a new vaccine that could possibly come with complications or delays and that could result in a shortage?
The first sign of the new flu bug showed up just two weeks before the committee was scheduled to meet. The scientists who track the flu had noticed a new strain was gathering mass. The overall decision to bring back the older version was decided on the fact that there wasn't enough time to produce a new flu vaccine.
The committee met this past February and was told that the current vaccine might not work in protecting people from the new strain.
Even though the committee voted 17-1 to bring back last year's version, they all have admitted that they made the wrong decision.
ABC News December 15, 2003 Dr. Mercola's Comment:
For years now I have been informing you that the flu vaccine is not the answer to avoiding the flu.
When I first started practicing medicine over 20 years ago, the flu vaccine was only indicated for those over 60 years of age or with chronic health conditions. Then experts predicted that we would see even more flu vaccinations recommended than we have already seen. Now, finally the CDC admitted the obvious, the flu vaccine does not work.
What you MUST understand is that people are dying from the flu because they are already sick and have compromised immune systems. The ultimate treatment for the flu is proactive prevention. Eat the right foods, avoid the junk, get plenty of rest and stay emotionally balanced--all presented in detail in my new book--and you and the flu symptoms will likely never meet.
Start focusing NOW on eating properly. That means STOP with the junk foods and fast foods, STOP with the sugary foods, the processed grains, and the trans-fats. That means INCREASE the healthy and essential fats like the omega-3 found in cod liver oil, the good carbohydrates like those in vegetables, and the healthy proteins like those in clean, naturally raised meats (i.e., NOT the kind you typically find in grocery stores) like free-range chicken. That means learn your metabolic type as soon as possible so you know what proportion of fats, carbs and proteins are ideal to build YOUR immune system (and help you optimize your weight, and increase energy, and avoid premature aging).
I guarantee that this and not vaccines and pills are the answer. I have spent over two decades developing my dietary program, and through my respected clinic it has proven to help tens of thousands of people build their immunity, overcome disease (most far more serious than the flu), optimize their weight and increase their energy.

Thanks Lymetoo, you are always there when I need an answer, thanks!
I never knew there was 'mercury and other lovely things' in those shots?????

I had a horrific experience with a flu shot in 1995, that I attibute to my Lyme getting as bad as it did... I will never get injected with any of those aweful things again... This is just my opinion, but Thought I owuld share that if you have a compromised immune system from something like Lyme it can cause serious complications for some people.

I think the flu is far less dangerous than the flu shot-children's vaccines are now (I think) mercury free but not the adult flu shots-and who knows what else is in them.

No to Vaccines

My LLMD actually recommends I get the flu shot. I believe it has something to do with my history of asthma.
The flu can be very dangerous for people with asthma. You need to take that into consideration as well. I'd talk to your doctor about it.

Folks should research all vaccines..
there was allot I didn't know.
On vaccines in general:
They have never been medically PROOVEN to work, they have never been studied for efficacy or adverse effect, tho many adverse effects have been reported..
They have mercury and other things like TuTu says, and they engage your immune system in activating it against specific bugs that you may not ever catch.. (this includes childhood vaccines, as well as the fact that most of the diseases are now highly treatable..and it can be GOOD for your immune system to fight something off naturally, makes it stronger..)
Additionally, most of the diseases vaccines are administered for were on a decline statistically well before the vaccine was put out. The only thing they point to for efficacy is disease decline, but the diseases were declining anyway.
..they are injections of live virus and bacteria that bypass all natural first line immune defences (though nose, mouth, other) and straight into the bloodstream. This can cause significant and lasting immune supression and the immone system in engaged in reacting to them, so supressed in reactivity when you get another infection that there is no vaccine for (like Lyme)
Especially immune supressed Lymos should get well educated on them even oif their Docs reccomend them .., but IMO, they are very bad for all of us and may explain the large increase in immune-supressed conditions.. many against vaccines contend that and have data to point to in reference to that.. how the immuneo-suppressed conditions have ballooned with the additions of more and more childhood vaccines. You should see the long list they pump into babies and children now! Starting at birth. I am not allowing any more for my kids. Better to strive for total health.
The kicker is they have never been studied for efficacy..Another 'modern medical' debacle.
I have also heard that they never quite can get the flu shot right, because this years strain will not be the one they have been able to prepare the vaccine for.

Now let's see here, was Polio or Small pox mentioned? What about Measles, Chickenpox, Mumps? They didn't just go away on their own you know.
Sorry, didn't mean to jiggle your drinks while you were speaking.

Yes, LaBRat,
actually those are the ones I'm referring to.
I know I have or can find the information, so I'll try and post it here.
Small Pox in particular was decreasing precipitously, also the vaccine was given to Phillipino children after it's inception, and a large number of the children came down with the illness after being 'vaccinated'..
Again, the key factor is they have never been tested for efficacy, not to mention the adverse effect.

That's some information I would like to see!

I always vote "NO" for this question.
In fact, I don't think anyone should get a flu shot and that is after seeing what it has done to people I know.
Paralysis for two, and my mother literally lost her mind from it. It took her nearly 3 years to recover.
I'd rather take my chances with the germ.

Its a matter of risk. How much of a chance do you think there is for you to get the flu and die from it? Balance that with what you think the potential risks are from the flu shot itself.
Personally I think you have more risk of dying every time you get in a car but I doubt if you will give that up just to stay alive.
Im willing to take my chances with the virus. We cannot protect ourselves from every risk but I do believe Mercola has the right line of thinking. We do have the power to minimize the risk and its not with a shot or a pill. No easy way, just the right way
