SO...I know there are others out there that have mentioned vibrations... would love to know what is meant by the term vibrations because I have been experiencing "bouts of electricity" going through parts of my body. Specifically my chest area and my left leg and hand. I have said all along, "Stick a light bulb in my mouth and I'll turn it on" but when I read "Vibrations" I thought maybe this is the same thing. If you experience this symptom can you note it here for me. Thanks.

Michelle,
the only way I can describe this is the way I have become used to :
Imagine this:
a train running right out side your house the vibrations you would feel, but they only affect a certain area of the body.. localized for me, but others have the whole body affected..

there is nothing else or no other way I can put it into words that is as close as it gets..
I have ahd the feeling of electrical jolts through my body after having someone hit my back with full force.. sending an electrical jolt .. seeing the electric pulse in my vision...

I had a herniated disc when this happened so Im certain she damaged a nerve in my spine when she pounded my back in that general area.. I have only been in one physical fight and I hope I never have to do it again! I came out victorious after that assult but I still have never been in a position to have to fight for my life..I beleive that she ahd been in many ..

I was going to ask about this too! I keep getting chilly bumps and when I do, I feel like there is an electrical surge/vibration in that area. Than it goes away, and its just really odd feeling. I was wondering what it is...I had guessed it was stuff dying off. It's mainly in my legs and I had it last night in a shoulder area...the shoulder really hurts today. So bizarre!

Hi, Michelle!
I've also had experience "bouts of electricity" you talked about -- very much like a low-wattage electrical charge.

Like you, I got it in my feet but the worse incident was on the backs of my hands.

Not to be too scary, but during that particular incident, the "charge" carried up my arms, went into my body and down my legs.

I became completely paralyzed and had to be rushed to the ER. The whole thing lasted for about 4.5 hours (not the charge, only the paralysis).

It was part of my first major herx, and a nasty introduction to neurological Lyme. I posted about it on this board and heard from about 10 people who had similar experiences.

Now, whenever things start feeling static-y, I stay alert. As I said, nothing like that has happened since, but it was really one of the weirdest and scariest things I've ever experienced.

Didn't feel like a rumbling freight train, though. That's one I haven't had... [Wink]

Yup, I have those electric tingles down my left leg. They come and go periodically. It's a wonder to me what makes them come and go.

The worst was about 2 years ago when these shocks would come, they would force me to stop walking. It was never painful, just paralyzing for that moment until it passed.

Thank goodness it's not like that anymore. I'm not sure what caused it to change...

prvbs31girl~

I have internal vibrations that last for about a minute, primarily in my chest area, and so far they have only occured in bed while trying to fall asleep.

They feel like a vibrating chair, or a vibrating mattress. I doubt they could be felt on the outside. Just a fast, rapid, vibration sort of feeling.

My nerves also burns, spark, send electric jolts, creep and crawl anywhere on my body. I can even get a paper cut feeling in my eyeballs!

Not fun, but liveable most of the time.

I also have the vibrations in which you are referring. I have had them for several months. It is like my body has a charge about it.

I also gets the sharp bolting electric shocks. This is along with the constant twitching in the legs and sporadically all over. My primary doctor, current neurologist nor my Lyme doctor have commented on the cause. The neurologist said the twitching is benign. I live with this every day and I know it is REAL!

Of course, as in my previous posts I still do not show Lyme in the testing although I have some positive bands. I also have many IND bands.

However, my Lyme doctor is working toward eliminating sinsus, ear and bronchial problems before he can tell if I have Lyme (clinically).

My most recent EMG/Nerve Conduction testing shows borderline slowing of the right tibial motor conduction.

I really wish there was an instrument they could use to pick up the current coming from these variations and bolts. At least it would prove it is happening! As it is there is always a "buzz" about me. I must add it becomes very fatiguing as well. Do any of you find that to be true? I have to rest at least 2 hours out of every day. I am sure more sleep at night would help as well but with the twitching and buzzing, sleep is difficult.

Amy Tan calls it "Dolby Digital syndrome" in her book "The Opposite of Fate". "a constant vibration within my body, which felt as though someone had installed in me a souped-up megabass system for stadium-strength rap music".
Mine is pretty much like that, but especially in my forearms. Sometimes I feel like a giant bug zapper, going "zzzst....zzzst....zzzst".

From what I understand, the vibrations and the buzzing feelings are because of low levels of magnesium within the cells.

I had this off and on for several years. Thank goodness not so much any more.
