Hi all- I know most people take a Macrolide w/Levaquin for Bartonella. Anyone doing Ketek instead?

Also, anyone had heel tenderness/pain as a primary symptom of Bartonella? Or neuropathy? (these would likely be not of the cat scratch Bartonella type- but a diferent Bartonella strain).

Thanks,

non-fiddler :{>.

I found that to be way too strong a combination. Those are both pretty heavy drugs. Rifampin and ketek have been okay so far, though. And if you go through the archive, there may be some writing on biaxin and levaquin. Cigi used to talk about it a lot.

I had the shin splints as a primary symptom, and also had the edema someone else wrote about recently. And levaquin actually didn't work, maybe because of the particular strain of bart I had.

Shin splints and pin-prick rash on arms and neck are two of my main bart symptoms. I started with 500 mg of levaquin for a month and now am on 500 mg levaquin plus 2000 mg of ceftin this month.

One son is on 2000 mg of biaxin XL for lyme and she said could possibly do something for bart if he has that.

Like me he was on the levaquin the first month but she switched him.

HI f!

I have done levaquin+zithro for 2 months and then levaquin+ketek for another 2 months. I like better the zitho than the ketek, on my case ketek cause a lot of tummy problems.

Yes! I did had the heel/ leg tenderness symptom, a week into the levaquin the leg pain turned horrific for about a month (day-night constantly, I will roll on the floor on the middle of the night - I am not exagerating- I was really concerned about tendon damage but I, after that leg pain went away and my cognitive really started to clear up, I felt like coming out of a stupid mode.
I would like to say that
