LLMD prescribed adderrol for my teenaged son. He has LD and babs...spect scan showed hyperperfusion.
Son has taken it 2 days w/ one day break in between, cuz of feeling weird. Today was dose2, and he had less weirdness. He says it really helps him focus on his school work...though.
LLMD says it's a temporary help..not long term therapy. I still don't like giving my child a controlled substance. Any others have info to share?

Hi Achey,
Sorry to hear your son is struggling so. My heart really goes out to both of you because I've had such brain problems myself with neuro lyme.
Here is a site from the Pennsylvania Lyme Support Group which has a site for teenage Lyme patients. It might be helpful in getting more ideas.
I realize you really want to hear from other moms with teens on Adderall, so just keep pushing this to the top for responses.
I'm just throwing out some web sites about books on the brain for additional background reading. Only your son and you can really figure out what works best for him.
This mother went to med school & became a doctor because her very young daughter was prescribed psychiatric drugs for a bladder infection. For real! She's written lots of books about children's brains.
I flew to New York from Texas to see this Doctor. He knows the brain. I had a brain mapping done which shows how much electricity is in the brain. You can click on "About Us" to read about his extensive training. He trained with the renown Dr. Carl Pfeiffer & has a new book called "The Edge".
I have his Path Med Manual (explains brain mapping)and the other book about Amino Acids.
My own experience getting the brain mapping is (really long):
For adults: All I know is that EPA fish oils are food for the brain and Phosphatidylserine with LeciPS by Solaray is very calming. I was also advised by Dr. EB not to forget my amino acids.
I've taken a full blend of amino acids in capsules. ("Anabolic Amino Acid Balance 25 Free Form Amino Acids" 2 - 5 capsules daily made by Anabol Naturals in California.) I take CoQ10 by Pure Encapsulations for my brain, heart & gums.
For teens: I don't know what they can safely take. Would never want anything to interfere with his Adderall.
I know that Vitamin E 200 i.u. is great for the brain. But I would never want to jolt his system by taking too much of anything -------even if it's a vitamin.
Vitamin A Solubilized 10,000 iu 100 softgels by Carlson is an anti-infective. (the real kind of Vitmin A, not betacarotene form)
My elderly mom was prescribed Vit A as a child for rheumatic fever. (Believe it or not that was the treatment back then)
If you want a comprehensive list of supplements to take you could look up Dr. J.W.'s site & print off his list. However, his daily protocol is 2 packets of supplements daily which = 800 i.u. Vitamin E which is too high to start with for anyone IMO.
He even advises folks to ramp up slowly. Like taking 1 packet daily. The high Vitamin E 800 i.u. will raise blood pressure.
