Some may have seen my posts, had Lyme for 2 years before being diagnosed, then treated for 10 years with one antibiotic at a time. Got much better when I discovered that I had Babs after 5 years of treatment with no complete resolution of symptoms. Felt great for 6 years, took doxy for maintenance during that time, but not in high enough dose. Relapsed last year with insomnia, tingling in the arms, and choking feeling, an some brain fog, aggressiveness.
Tested positive for Lyme IGM only. Babs/ Bart were negative. Started Ketek, Mepron, plaquenol, and Sulphur in June this year. Did that for 5 weeks and couldnt tolerate anymore. New LLMD put me on doxy to calm me down, immune system over reacting. Asked for Bart meds late July, and took for 7 weeks with great results. Now my doctor had me try Ketek for one week, then Tini to test the waters and see how I repsonded. Both drugs have been with Doxy in 400 mgs doses.
1st- I am concerned that I may have not had enough Bart treatment. Had a herx the 4th day on Ketek similar to Bart herx. Now on Tini, I am having herxes as well. Different type though.
I am confused what direction to go in. My LLMD is ILADS, but shouldnt I be working on the Lyme in its diffeernt forms, then go after the cysts later? The doxy I understand works intra-cellularly. Is the Tini "killing" the cysts, or just opening them? If it is just opening them, shouldnt I be on a different drug besides Doxy to actually kill it? I read Dr. B protocol and he suggest ABX like penicillin for mobile chetes.
I am going to call my 2nd LLMD for another opinion. Yes, I work with 2 because each has slightly different opinions. One uses Plaquenol, the other doesn't. One treats 3 months for Bart, the other no more than 6 weeks.
Liek them both, but want to be as efficient as possible in my treatment protocol. Sorry for the long post!

IMO you're on top of the situation...
I herxed big time on the ketek after four days also and then seemed to be in a constant low herx all the time I was on it...I did take flagyl(metronidazol) which would be in the same vein as tinidazol while doing the ketek and later with amantadine......
Does it break open the cysts? I believe it does and then destroys itbut I could be wrong and it would be best to be on another abx at the same time... although I took only flagyl for about one and a half years as a prophelactic like you did with the doxy....and did well...but again relapsed with Igg and Igm pos...your Igm means your infection is active...
I'm sure others will come on and comment.....hang in there...
Hey how about a new mortgage on my doublewide here in florida...hee hee just kidding...zman

I think that you can take Levaquin with Tini and doxy, so I am going to ask my doctor if I can do that so I absolutely make sure I'm rid of the Bart. One doctor will say no, but the other will I believe. Right now, after trying Ketek again for one week, and then the Tini this week, I am not sure what may be Bart symptoms coming back, or flares from either drug. I am not taking them together. It was a trial run to see what herxed me more or less. The doc likes to go slow and not tox you out too much. Right now I am only on 250 mgs of Tini 2X daily and working up to 750 mgs in the next day or so. I'm only 150 lbs, and Tini is based on weight I am told, so I am at the threshold where 500 mgs twice daily like one doctor wanted is sufficient. The Bart meds just made me feel better and had slight "herxes", so adding it to the mix I am hoping will not over tox me. Sorry Tony, I don't do mortgages on double wides! matter of fact- haven't done any mortgages in 5 months now since back on all these meds- luckily saved some money while biz was good and spending it on drugs and doctors! lol- But gotta get back soon- have 2 beach houses in Florida to pay for and rental season is over!
