Any one out there on mino & zith together? How's it working for you? Side effects? How long have you been on it and have you done other meds/combos prior to this one?

I'm asking to compare my experience to that of others. I've been on mino since mid-May and added zith at the end of August.

Five weeks into the combo, the chest pain/vasospasm that I've been using nitroglycerin patches for, for the last 18 months, has abated substantially. My general weakness seems a bit better too. I'm getting physical therapy at home and my PT has noted a nice difference the last two weeks as well. Keep in mind that I've been bedridden for nearly a year. I'm also gaining back a bit of weight too (lost a ton). [I'm knocking wood like a crazy woman right now as I type this].

SIde effect-wise, I have a bit of thrush (not bad at all) and wicked ringing in my ears. Some stomach discomfort at times, but nothing too bad. I had a heck of a body rash for the first two months of just mino that was unresponsive to topical and oral antihistamines. I did some low-dose alternate-day therapy prednisone for 4 weeks, and now I'm doing okay. I do use benedryl prior to my zithromax.

Anyway, I've never responded to orals before when I've had a serious relapse, we've always had to use IV. However, I've never tolerated a combo before, so this is a first in that regard as well.

In short, I'm curious about the course of others who may have been or are currently trying this combo. So far, so good. Heck, I'll take what I can get given where I started from....

I just got this interesting site from someone dx with MS re: CPN/MS. This site is talking about taking a zithro/mino/flagyl combo. Sounds familar doesn't it [Wink]

I have been on zithro/plaq but the doctor is switching me to mino. I tried Mino last yr, but got very dizzy. I will start very slowly this time.

This is the antibiotics I use for the Marshall protocol, plus Benicar. It works great. The predisone is an immunosuprasant steriod and probably not good for your lyme recovery. The combo of z&M, if tolerable is probably a strong lyme weapon.....Of course I'm doing very low dose Z&M , pulsed. Good luck.

Semper and Dura.

I used Mino .
Mino with HCQ,
And Mino with Bactrim,
and Mino with Bactrim and added Zith.

But NOT at the tiny doses the unnamed protocol
insists one uses.

I turns out I couldn't take Zith. This was in 2003 when I discussing abx with the members of Sarc info (before there was an un-named protocol) and we were arguing over whether my reaction was a drug reaction or herx.

Mino and Bactrim is a kicker. I had to wean up the bactrim while already on Mino.

In any case- Dura- I'm glad you're seeing improvements.

I did the best on Zith/Mino combo. I didn't have any side effects at all. As a matter of fact I don't think that i herxed on it at all so maybe that is not good??

Prior to that combo I was on Ceftin/mino combo and didn't notice the improvement that i did with the zith.

I'm now starting Flagyl/mino. And so far no herx either??

I herxed like crazy; had stomach trouble from both zith and mino and I had to quit takin it.

FYI: I am taking actual, real, non-homeopathic doses of these meds. About 225-300 mg/day of zithromax & 100-200 mg/day of minocycline.

my son did zith mepron for 6 months and just added mino to the combo 2 weeks ago.

He is making huge improvement, like a real 16 yr old!

I did mino with iv clinda and iv zith...it helped clear my brain a lot , but the herxes were a real problem. I don't think I'm done with mino....maybe I'll be trying it with oral zith in the future.

I just stopped iv's 2 weeks ago. Doing zith, plaquinel, diflucan right now, and making some nice improvement.

I know zith and mino work together synergisticly, and the mino is great at crossing the bbb.

Glad to hear of your improvement! Keep it up!

Go Dura Go!!!!
