My fiancee was put on diflucan for a yeast infection from iv rocephin, he was fine after taking it for a couple days but his face and neck have been getting red on and off and he is starting to feel worse again. The llmd believes diflucan helps get rid of lyme to. Is it possible he is herxing? anyone have this problem?

Yes its possible because hes also killing yeast and with all the dead yeasties and dead spirochetes hes starting to feel bad. He probaly should also be taking ibuprophen for inflamation it helped me but took 3or4 days before I noticed any improvement in the acheing. Posted by aiden424 (Member # 7633) on :

There is a doc who believes he is having success treating Lyme with Diflucan. I also herx badly on Diflucan and it is almost identical to how I herx on Abx.
There is something on the board right now, read it just this morning. It is an interview with the doc using Diflucan to treat Lyme. Look around it is here somewhere. It was interesting. He did point out that Diflucan has a very short half life and that over days you can end up with a concentration that makes you feel worse. If that happens, he recommended stopping for a couple of days and then starting over.
I have experienced this very thing and by the 8th day I have reached my tolerance level and had to quit, but will start again. Hope this helps.
