I want to see if there is any interest in making a TV program about our battles with Lyme --
What I would like to make it a documentary style program-- (Nova-Frontline-ect
You tell your story about what you have been threw battling lyme disease--
I have had Lyme for 20 years-
3 years ago I figured out I had Lyme by seeing a segment on 60 Minutes that was about Lyme-- Changed my Life-
I am a video editor and make programs for TV -- I have won awards for documentaries I have done-
After I have edited the program I will send out DVDs to many people- Then these people can make copies and give out-- Could post on the web too- local tv stations love free shows Program will be free to all to use-
No names will be used- I know many of you would not be comfortable with your face on TV--
There are many easy ways to cover your idenity -Back lighting - close up on eye- hands- fuzz face ect- I can disguise voice also-
--You video tape yourself at home-- You will mail your DV tapes to me- I do not need to know your name-
I know lots of you have a DV video cameras sitting around -- This would be a good way to use it--
I will write instructions on lighting-audio ect--
If we all do a good job- We could tell our story on national TV--
I made a 15 minute TV program about myself and lyme 5 months ago-
It will take 12 or More people to send in there story to make a good program- The more the better-
I will erase tapes after program is done--
If I get enough footage I will make several lenghts of program 10min-30min ect.
I Really want to tell our story- and Hope you will help me tell it -- Jay --
Post or email me--

Similar project underway called "Under Our Skin" by Open Eye Pictures. The more of this type of information we can get out, the better. Good luck!

Have you checked out the under our skin thing??
I would LOVE to be a part of this, but don't own one of those expensive cameras you need for DVD or whatever. Can you RENT those?
I would also want to be able to see the edited version and be able to say NO if I don't like it.
There would have to be contracts, etc.
But otherwise---I'd LOVE LOVE LOVE to do it. The more we saturate the public the more they will have to listen. Trails Posted by groovy2 (Member # 6304) on :
Hi Trails
Thanks for wanting to be part of this effort--
The camera just has to be a mini DV video camera--nothing special-- If you dont have a mini DV camera I bet you have a friend that has one-
Any video camera bought in the last few years is likley a mini DV -
The picture quality is not that important--
What you say is going to tell the story--
I will send each person in the program a DVD to watch and give final ok to program--before it is given out to others-
I will write out instructions how to get good video and sound--
Most Mini Dv cameras get a perty good picture when set on automatic- I will exlain how to do simple lighting using lights you have at home.
It is going to take about 12 or more people to help out to make this program--
I am going to be in program also-
I hope more people will help out in this --
As others have said the more we are heard the better--Jay--

I am thinking about it.
Edited to say: I do not think, having thought about it, that my case is going to be useful as I am living outside of the country, assuming the program is going to focus on what's going on in the US only........I am see a US LLMD, but apart from that, and like most of you, I get zero assistance from my local GP.

Trails - CVS and I'm sure other places sell one-time use 20-min video recorders. Might be worth looking into.
Groovy2 - Would love to be part of a project where we get to tell people 'personally' about our battles ..... even if only one person pays attention and joins the battle or if someone finally is able to say 'Aha, maybe this is what is wrong with me."
Keep us posted, Deb

If you need volunteer interviewees, count me in.
My symptoms are pretty across the board. Right now, I've been on oral abx for 5 months and am very very slowly seeing an improvement.
Good luck with this and keep us updated. Andie

Hi All I am glad to see that people are deciding to help with this program--
For those of you that dont have a mini DV camera ask your friends or neibors to see if they have a mini DV video camera that you can use for a day or two-- No need to buy a camera--
Almost every video camera bought in the last few years is most likely a mini DV camera
Camera will say DV on it some ware-
If you have any questions just ask-
I will contact those who what to help with program in the next few days--Jay--

Jay, I would be willing to help. I have the camera so that would be no problem. I would like to get the word out, also. My hubby, daughter and I all have lyme. My 26 yr old son probably has it, too. Let me know what you need.

There is a program that airs regularly on cable's health channel called something like Mystery Diagnosis.
People come on and talk about their experiences/struggles with hard to diagnose conditions.
At the end of the show there is a number to call if you have a story you want to share.
This could be another way to increase awareness of lyme and the battles we have with the medical system.
