Hi there,

so do any of you out there support the idea that Fluconazol (Diflucan) will kill or disrupt Lyme and also co-infections, esp. Ehrlichiosis (human anaplasmosis)?

Our doctor has not used it as such yet, but says that is one of the "new" ideas she is looking into. My guess is that if it didn't have some merit, she wouldn't even look at it. I'm glad you revived the thread. Hopefully someone will pick up on it this time.

Studies just haven't been done on it yet. Yes, Dr. S certainly believes that diflucan contains an ingredient that may interrupt the replication of Bb.

My son took diflucan for a stomach yeast infection for appx. 6 weeks. We've seen no eveidence of any lyme symptoms returning. He had some minor aches and pains, stomach upset with the yeast, however, when he took diflucan the stomach pain abated, and ibuprofen took away the aches and pains.

Previously, very little we tried had any effect on his pain from lyme, so consequently the fact that ibuprofen works leads us to believe it was yeast related.

My doc came back from the ILADS conference and said a small study had been done on diflucan and they found people treated with it as a "mop up" after their antibiotic courses were much less likely to relapse. She said they're finding diflucan has an affect on yeast, bacteria and viruses.

Yet, is there specific information on Fluconazol's effect on co-infections besides lyme?

My husband just started diflucan for lyme. the llmd is hoping it gets his babs too. The llmd says the early results at his own practise show that diflucan is effective in clearing out alot of the co-infections.

There is speculation that ms, lupus, parkinson's etc. patients could show improvement with a two month course of diflucan, especailly if their current treatment isn't working.

Promising.
