After a long battle with Chronic Sinus ending in bronchitis this month. they put me on Omnicef.
I know it is frequently used for Lyme, but was wondering if it also targeted any of the coinfections?
I have been on it 10 days and I am having symptoms of feeling weak, and loss of blood flow to my head ( what I usually get if Lyme is getting kicked up)
Anyone on this for coinfectins as well , or can offer any more info on its potency concerning Lyme? Thanks once again!

I'm curious about this as well. I've been on Omnicef for about 3 months along with doxy. I'm not sure how effective it is. I feel better than I did before abx but I'm just not sure how well it's working lately.
I'd like to see if anyone else has any knowledge on Omnicef.

I started treatment with doxy--felt better after only a few days but then became extremely photosensitive. Face got quite red and my nose looked like Rudolph. After 8 days doc put me on Omnicef. It's only been a few days....of Omnicef. I haven't seen Omnicef referred to on other sites, some on this one---anyone having a good experience with it? Also, I have a strange feeling in my bronchial tubes but x-rays and cat scan show nothing. No mucuous, no cough, just a sensation as you have when you finish a cold with a cough. I wonder if this is LD related? Also bloodshot eyes--could that be LD related?

Omnicef is a cephalosporin. These and penicillins are not effective against bart or babs, just lyme

It's one of the strongest cephalosporins you can take orally, and supposedly knocks the outer cell wall off Lyme. You are supposed to combine it with a macrolide and maybe a cyst buster. Since the cephalosporins do not work on most co-infections, it's a good drug to take in a Lyme combination while you are treating bartonella, babesia, etc., because IV cephalosporins like rocephin would just be a waste of time and money until the co-infections are gone.
