What are some sypmtoms of the most common Lyme co-infections. I'm being treated for Lyme only and trying to determine I should also be treated for co-infections. I've not been tested yet but plan to.

From what my Dr told me, some of the symptoms of coinfections are similar to lyme. My Dr. went through an entire checklist of symptoms. If you have a wide variety of symptoms (headache and neckache, muscle weakness and pain, joint pain, low grade fever, eye or other nuero symptoms like brain fog, mood swings) I would be concerned with coinfections. That is why I went to a LLMD, b/c of my wide variety of symptoms and little improvement with antibiotics.

Co-infections do mimic lyme closely. However, chest pain, labored breathing, sweats/chills, are often babesia.
Bartonella can often be accompanied by swollen glands, fever, and some bad neuro stuff, It is hard to tell. Many here discovered their co-infections when they didn't respond to lyme treatment, they then switched to co-infection treatment and got better.
The vets on this board would almost unanimously agree that the lyme does not get better or go away until co-infections are properly treated.

What is the treatment for coinfections? How is it different from Lyme?
I guess another type of testing is done to determine coinfections?

Co-infections can be tricky. So far i tested positive for lyme ,bartonella and chronic step infection witch is more common than you think. I have alot of bad Nero stuff and fatigue with chest pain and stomach problems, i think the stomach problems are most likely bart as some have gotten better on levaquin. The Nero stuff gets really bad with bart, its way beyond perportion compared to just lyme. Or so i was told.

This is a hard call, but any time I hear chest pain, I think babs. I know the keets love the nerve that runs along the chest, but babs seems to like it better. Labored breathing to accompany it, and..........bingo.......I'm guessing babs.
Fatigue, if you're literally drowning in a pool of sweat, along with extremely unusual sexual desires, it could be "Lou's" disease ? I'd keep a sharp eye out... Posted by char (Member # 8315) on :
