Hi Guys, Just wanted to give you hope. Doc put me on German Protocol. I've taken Diflucan (200mg.)everyday since Thursday. I still have 45 days left b-4 20 days of "cyst-buster". I'm doing Tini because of my "pretty pictures"! [bonk]

When Jeff & I went to eye Doc, I mentioned here b-4 that I couldn't even see the big "E" @ the top of the chart...I CAN NOW READ THE INGREDIENTS ON THE BAG OF TOSTITOS! [Big Grin]

I'm thrilled...Never give up hope!!

Hey Reno,
I've just started the Diflucan treatment myself...looking forward to having some of this cognitive stuff subside!

That is GREAT news about your vision! It's a big issue with me as well...lots of halo's and floaters (especially left side..) So, hearing that you've had improvement gives me alot of hope.
How long did it take you on this protocol to see your vision improve?

Did your llmd give you an idea on how long on this treatment? Has your llmd told you if this is will help co-infections as well?

Thanks for your update...wishing you continued success and healing!

The Schardt Protocol calls for taking Diflucan by itself for 50 days at 200 mg per day. Then you stop the Diflucan and take a narrow range penicillin. Then if you need to, you repeat it.

Doc has me on Mino.right now becoz'it's a good treatment for demyelination, otherwise you DON'T take any abx with Diflucan! [woohoo]

Java Being, I wish you the very best...please e-mail your progress...we can be "Diflucan Buddies"! [Big Grin]

Lyme ED, NO, you can't take abx @ the same time as Diflucan. A fellow-Lymie who's a Journalist interviewed Dr.S there in Manhattan.

Porsche, I'll probably be on this protocol for over a year. I just started, but so far, so good!

Dr.P gave me a script for an EKG & repeated bloodwork. He took away the Erhlichiosis & Babs. in '99...I hope I wasn't reinfected! And he through in Bartonella . I'll be getting another full-body MRI as treatment progresses...

Hiya Reno [Smile]

Sure, I'd be happy to be a buddy...always good to have a fellow lymie to share these new paths with, and all the twists that seem to come along with it.

You mentioned that you had/have Bartonella? Did your llmd mention that this treatment will help with that as well?

Happy trails,
JavaBeing

Hi Java Being [Smile] ,

Welcome to the Club! I hope the Diflucan has the same positive effect on your vision as it did mine! [Big Grin]

I'm getting tested for Bart. next week, as well as Erhlichiosis & Babs. Doc wrote the word THOROUGH! He said I'd have 25 vials of blood taken...I don't think he's joking! [bonk]

I am also on protocol... I've been on it four seven days or so... have had some serious fasiculations, but other than that nothing serious to report... I have lost 90% sight of one eye about a year ago to an unexplained central retinal vein occlusion....lyme related???
Please keep us posted and I will do the same.

Reno please keep me posted...I am seriously considering this protocol after trying it for yeast issues and seeing my floaters in my eyes finally disappear after 14 days of it.

I had a question for Dr. Schardt in relation to how he does address the cyst form of the bacteria.

I am very curious how you fair taking the cyst busters after the diflucan.

Thanks!

An educated guess is that 200mg diflucan in addition to abx could put a strain on the liver.

Another thought could be they are trying to rid your body of all yeast..before starting abx again. If you take abx & diflucan maybe it could be counter productive.Abx making yeast & diflucan is ridding it.I can see the lodgic.

But for me without pulsing in the diflucan on my off days, even with strict diet I get yeast problems .So I can't take one without the other for now.

Take care

I would think it would defeat the purpose... [confused]

I'm herxing today & I didn't even start the cyst-busters yet! I have right knee pain, ringing in left ear, & a raging sinus headache! [bonk]

I'm going for my bloodwork & EKG in the a.m. Doc wants to see me in Jan...I'll need a dogsled! [woohoo]

You can take diflucan while taking abx's it is just really hard on the liver. As well, it uses the P450 enzyme pathway to clear from your body and if you are taking another antibiotic which uses the same pathway then you can overstress your body and get real sick.

There are others here that understand the ins and outs of the P450 pathway better then myself...just starting to research it.

Take care...

As to ABX w Diflucan - my son is getting azitromax admin via IV 2x a week w a targeted agent-HA. Taking 500mg of oral zith 2x a day on the IV off days, as well as getting bicillin 2x weekly by IM. Plus 200mg of Diflucan daily, 200mg Plaquenil with a probiatic. We had completed 7 weeks of IV Rochepin but it didn't work for us.
