quick question, I was prescribed an inhaler which has steroids in it. I know that steroids are a big no no. However, I recently read on here that in small amounts it may be okay.
I have only done one dose on monday ( then when i got home, read the insert and stopped) but If I can... I'd like to take it.
what do you think??
Thanks, Kimmi

I've been using Advair since April. No problems that I can see. Breathing is not optional!!
[were you recently dxd with asthma?]

Hey Lyme too.
wow, that's great news that I can use it! No, he has yet to dx me with asthma. He did mention COPD. I go back in two weeks to see if it has helped any.
Thanks so much for your quick response!

I tried Advair and it made my breathing worse.. I have had Asthma all my life... I used ventlin inhalers for years. Problem is that a dose only lasts for a short while and is expensive ($75 a tube). I was doing about 5-6 puffs a day...
I get a generic version in Mexico for 5 bucks a tube works fine...
My Asthma doc had me try Singulair . This stuff really works great! I take a 10 mg pill once a day and my Asthma is gone! Gezz, I wish I had this stuff when I was a kid!
The only time I have trouble now is when I get close to someone who is using cheap perfume or aftershave. Then I take a puff of ventlin but, haven't needed ventlin for a long time...

i had to use a lot of inhalers for a while when working in "sick buildings". true about breathing not being optional-my llmd said small amts are ok but i think i just read in dr. b's 2005 guidelines that even small amts of steroids should be avoided. i wonder if the shots i got in my knees and feet contributed to their disintegration.

When my asthma sufferer (my oldest boy) was using
Advair the Dr always had him rinse his mouth
after each use to prevent thrush. Of course this
was before the Lyme DX. So I would be especially
careful. Because between the steroids and the abx
you are at an even greater risk for Candida. So
you might want to get some nystatin or troche
lozenges. Bump up your probiotic intake. Watch
what you eat and/or take
Diflucan.

My daughter use to have asthma symptoms for a few years before she got sick with all of this. It went away when she became very ill. She was on Advair for the 6 months before she got very ill with Lyme. I have wondered if the Advair was the cause for her Lyme symptoms to get this bad.

Hey guys,
Thanks for your replies. The breathing sx started when I was in tx. Naturally, it seemed as though it was part of the mega herxing I was going through.... But, As of Veterens day, I am no longer in tx so no worries about the combo. I have candida now, which I'm doing my best to treat. it's possible that may be causing the breathing problems, and not copd. Time will tell. at least the test for copd seems pretty solid! Regardless, I did not stop tx voluntarily. But I think at this point, I need to eliminate the candida, build my body back up, See what sx are left, and if there are any... Get back in the game. As far as the Advair, hmmm. I guess I'll see what happens. He could probably run a spirometry. then I'll know for sure. it's a low dosage so I may take it.... Thanks again guys!!

Anyhow, thanks for all of the replies and so far... Advair DOES rock!!

Lymetoo,
Does the singular not contain steroids?
Do you think it can help air hunger? Seems like the air hunger and asthma crossover and get confusing.
