Does the protocol for Bartonella always involve
more than one drug at a time? For example,
Doxy & Rifampin, or Cipro + another drug.

Has anyone ever done Levaquin on its own for
Bart, or have you pulsed it?

Thanks in advance.

Di

I took only Rifampin and low dose of Flagyl (375mg once a day). Period. That's it. For Bart and Lyme. And have been off both for a year. No bart back, no recurrance of Lyme. I am on Cat's Claw though. FWIW.

Lymeinhell:
What brand of Cat's Claw? Liquid or pills?
Good to see someone on the site who is doing well.

Di, I'm not on mono therapy, but do want to put a word in for treating the Bart.

I got treated accidentally, while treating a Staph problem. I'be been on Rifampin plus Bactrim for over three months now, and the improvements are continuing.

This, in spite of now taking half the dose of the Bactrim originally prescribed. So I guess I'm almost on monotherapy. [Big Grin]

I also know people who have done the levaquin on its own. But here it can be a tough drug, so don't know if that is an easier option for you.

If you decided to go with Rifampin, I would increase the dose slowly. the drug iteself can pack a wallop, but it seems to go away over time.

Good luck, whatever you decide.

Riversinger, are you also on the Bactroban nasal
antibacterial ointment?

I retested for staph in nose over a couple of
years. Now, none. Didn't really do the treatment
either--just Bactroban.

Yes, I was doing the Bactroban. But we think the Staph is gone now, so I'm only doing the Rif and the Bactrim. That ointment was kind of yucky. To be technical. [Big Grin]

Maybe because you haven't been able to tolerate so many abx, yours wasn't so resistent?

I'm really glad to hear yours is till gone! I don't think I could do this again. Dr. S says it keeps developing resistence, so I'd have to pull out even bigger guns next.

But I am feeling MUCH better. I was so sick last spring, i could never have imagined I could improve this much.

So here's hoping you find something that will help you, too!!!
