My eyes have bothered a little bit off and on - feeling strained or occasional stinging feeling throughout my ordeal with lyme. The eyes seem to be bothering me more lately - more feelings of the eyes being strained and dry and slight stinging.

I'm a little concerned that the eyes seem worse after 4.5 months of abx. The rest of me is feeling better but not the eyes (ears a little worse too).

Does anyone else have the eye strain & stinging? Is it lyme or could it be a co-infection. I've only been tested for babs (negative 4 times).

I'm glad that I'm feeling a lot better after 4.5 months on 2 abx but a little discouraged and concerned about the eyes (and the mild on and off ear pain).

Thank you.

It's nice to hear that you ARE responding to abx. I do know that sometimes new symptoms pop up, some get worse, some better, it's a very bumpy road.

That you are responding at all is a good sign.

I have exactly what you are talking about, my eyes are extremely light sensitive, and the symptoms get SO MUCH WORSE when exposed to light.

I rarely use the computer, and pay for it later.
Today is the first time I've been at this sight in a long time.

I also have the ear pain on and off.

Klonopin seems to help my eyes, I use that at night. Caffeine sometimes helps during the day.

If I get bad eye pain I take a medication called Migranal.

Best to You. This is not a trip I'd wish on anyone...well almost anyone. [Big Grin]

Hi:
I spend a few hours a day on the computer. Up until a few months ago, it didn't bother me too much to be on the computer, except towards the end of the day in the wee hours of the morning like right now.

My eyes would go blurry. But a few months ago it got worse. ANd a couple months ago, it was so bad that my eyes were blurry MOST of the time. And yes, strained very easy and sometimes would burn.

BUt after taking Devils Claw, ONLY two pills, 3 days apart, my vision miraculously cleared up AND my heavy brain fog also cleared up. ( I imagine they were related). My headaches have gotten better also, though once in awhile I still get a little headache.

I am now up to three Devils Claw a day now. Along with the other herbs I am taking. I had a little setback a few days ago, on the pain in my knees, but I was on a very minimal dose of the herbs then and now have doubled it and things are better again.

STILL no antibiotics, but hoping for some soon to go ALONG WITH the herbs. I will continue taking the herbs after I quit the abx. BUt don't know for how long or how much either. Will have to play it by ear.

Jim

I've had many eye problems for the last 5 years. My vision was changing about 3 times a year. I can go to the eye doc and vision would improve or get worse. It would change so often that I would wait it out about 6 weeks before I'd make appt to correct.

I also have macular degeneration going on because of the lyme. This can lead to blindness, so it needs to be watched by eye doc.

I just went a year without having any changes. The macular degeneration is improving also. Really good news. He showed me these areas in my eye and I believe they are toxin build-up either dead or alive. Maybe even clusters of lyme?

My vision was blurry this time due to my contacts were to strong and my vision had improved so much. Good news. My vision is back pre-lyme vision now.

Very important that you have someone watching what's going on in your eyes. When you have vision problems due to medical illness your eye doc visits will actually be billed to medical insurance. Insurance/Medicare won't pay for contacts or eye glasses (so I've experienced) but they pay for all the testing.

I had taken some written information on lyme disease & eye problems to my eye doc to read, so he was aware of what eye problems are possible.
You've got to educate your eye doc too.

Take care, Pam

After being on Ceftin for a few weeks, I started getting the eye symptoms you described right around my period. It was a newer symptom in that it was persistent and more severe than any previous. The Dr. told me it was prob. a Herx reaction. Now I get the eye thing on and off throughout the day and especially when I am tired. If I try to push it and stay up at night and read the symptoms are twice as bad. I am on a computer all day so I have to take eye breaks.
I have not seen an eye dr. as I just assumed the symptoms were associated with the lyme....
Sometimes I have the headache and the eye strain/pain sometimes only one, sometimes none. It is so fun.............. [bonk]

plaqunil can make my eyes temporaraly go blurry and dry. Then when i am off much better.
You have to have regular examines when on this med.Over time it can damage the eyes.
