I have been on Doxy for about going on four months now and i have the worst time trying to stay regular,
i used to be like a clock when it came to this area and now it is such a problem for me. i take a probiotic called BIO-K that claims 50 billion cultures,
i try to drink a gallon of water everyday. is there anything i can do to get this on track, and does this sound like it is the lyme, doxy, or yeast that is making this a problem for me> any suggestions would be great thank you.

This really can be a problem for some people, even after meds are done. Coffee enemas, taking psyllium husk powder, (some people take flax seed instead but it didn't work for me), fiber drinks followed by water. I also noticed now that I'm walking about 5 miles a day it's gotten better.

I ran into the same issue and use super colon cleanse but I only do 2 caplets twice daily. It has worked well and has not given me the opposite reaction I feared I may have gotten if I used the rocommended dosages.

If you are having any intestinal pain or issues this will really give you some improvement...or at least it has in my case.

I believe just from my journey the last year and a half that sometimes part of the herx is diarreah...it seems that whenever I have die off I get diarreah.

Hope you get it under control soon - it is no fun...

I found mixing a little psylium powder if you are not allergic to it with my probiotics was a good plan...was recommended by a physician to me to slow the probiotics down as they travel through the system.

Natural fiber helps, the kind that is in vegetables, but what helps me the most is exercise. I walk 2 miles on the treadmill everyday, and I also jump up and down on a mini trampoline for 5 minutes each day. The trampoline is really effective at shaking it all up and getting it moving. Exercise also plays a big role in detox, as well as helping us to sleep better.

Psylium changed my life. I'm very regular.

Sometimes a little extra acidophilus can loosen things up.

Powdered good-quality Vitamin C works better than any other thing I tried when I had this situation. My holistic doc recommended it and it works great!!!!

This is important because good elimination gets rid of dead ketes and dead yeast thus getting toxins OUT of your body.

Oh one more thing I forgot to mention...I see a very smart integrative physician that recommends that I vary my probiotic formula.

He says don't stay on the same one all the time. He says pick three or four that work for you then vary them from month to month.

Find the ones that offer the most varied strains of probiotics - and the largest amounts. There is a particular strain too - I am forgetting which one it is - to make sure your probiotics contain.

He believes this way you are getting a varied population of stains.

Take care....

hi d.j. - you didn't mention whether the problem veers toward constipation or diarrhea - for constipation try stewed prunes (or dried prunes), pears, blackstrap molasses, smooth move tea (health food store)....if despaerate try a bottle of magnesium citrate from the drug store...
good luck,
deb

thanks to all for the comments, any ideas are taken as a blessing at this point.
it all started pretty much immediately after starting doxy.
i hate to talk about this but my movements are so slow, before lyme, 2-3 healthy on time clockwork movements.
since lyme, i will do a freaking backflip if i have one great one in a day.
i am drinking a half to full gallon of distilled water, taking probiotics, two tablespoons of benifiber and just recently have tried to get walking again, couldnt the last few months.
i am constantly bloated, constantly feel full, have weird pains in stomach, and often do not feel like i am emptying all of my waste.
i am mostly constipated, but about once a week or so i go the opposite end and have diareah, sp? well that is so yuck, but that is whats up with me. i hate it, and i just want to get this under control, i think it is my pills, but could it be yeast, or the lyme i dont know, thank you though for all your thoughts all of you are so great...

Magnesium is critical for Lyme regardless and it is also useful for some as a laxative. Might be an option to consider.
