Does anyone get adrenaline surges? I get them a lot and my bp shoots up 157/100 and my hr too, 175-180. Am I alone?

You are not alone...that was the first symptom that really caught my attention. I had other symptoms prior to getting my diagnosis, but when I got undeniabley ill, I got this weird surge that literally ran from the top of my head down to my feet.

I was getting out of the car and I almost fell to the ground. It literally felt like my heart had dropped to my feet.

My blood pressure went way down...was 83/65 at one point...which is crazy low for me...

All of this has gotten better although the adrenaline stuff still goes on but less profoundly.

Take care...

HI, i get adrenalin surges lots - you're not alone!. my heart rate increases, BP shoots up. i become restless, increased body tension, mind racing etc... [woohoo]

This usually happened to me as a herx after introducing new abx. the worst herx & adrenalin surges i had was on flagyl. - got adrenalin surge with every pill popped!! but the adrenalin surges did become less severe over time. [Smile] so hang in there!

Lord, it's nice not to be alone!

Just like surfbabe:
quote:

This is what is keeping me awake atm. Took a lunesta, but it didn't help. I'm so tired and I want to sleep but I end up tossing and groaning and getting up because I can't keep still.

I don't ever remember it being this bad though...I'm trying to figure out what cuased it?

---------------------------------------
Anxiety attack?
* A tense, uptight feeling
* Inability to relax
* Feeling restless, keyed up, or on edge
* Muscle tension, aches, or soreness
* Trouble falling or staying asleep
* Difficulties concentrating
* Irritability or impatience
* Physical symptoms such as sweaty palms, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, nausea or diarrhea, and trouble swallowing.

The symptoms fit but I don't feel anxous about anything? So maybe not...

Ugh..I wanna sleep!

Wow, much of what you all are talking about sounds like it can be Lyme induced NMH, and there are things you can do to make it better. [Smile]

The adrenaline surges, the shaky feeling, can easily be from Lyme disease induced Neurocardiogenic Syncope, Neurally mediated Hypotension (NMH). Not only does it screw up the heart rate and blood pressure, but it can make you feel woozy, weak, dizzy, lightheaded, anxious, depressed, shaky, hungry, thirsty, and faint. These symptoms can happen at other times too...standing in line at the grocery store, a warm day, any time during pain, stress, lack of sleep, caffiene, exercise etc.

The cause of this is the Lyme disease bacteria inflamming the vagus nerve that leads from the brain to the heart.

I have it and its under control with Atenolol/Zoloft/Xanax/magnesium, but it comes out and rears it ugly head when I eat the wrong things, don't sleep enough, or am under stress, but heat is the big one. Don't go to California in August, I learned! A Lyme literate cardiologist can check for NMH by doing a Tilt Table test. Hope this helps [Smile]
