just turned forty(eeek),lyme for four yearsbeen together for twenty years(ya).If moneys a problem we sold one car and now only have one,moved back in with the folks,applied for any government help we could get.Biggest thing you can do get to a good LLMD.Right now take it day to day,that will be enough,keep in mind that most people improve from this and that should be encouraging and finally learn from this and live a better productive life when you get better.

So how do you deal with the "trapped" feeling you get when you have no money and you start losing everything you did have, including your family.

I wonder how many men have lost everything waiting for disability. How do I keep this from happening to me?

Brentb, what do you do? Do you have any idea what an ex-construction worker(electrician) could do to make money.
I meant to ask you before if you were living in our neiborhood back in 79,80,81? That was when I lived there. I lived on a street called Sundance. I think my division was called Pinehurst, beside Shores.

I am still not sure if I have lyme. I never tested positive. I just had my picc pulled after 6 months and one symptom, total exsaustion, has let up a lot, however it is still pretty bad. I am still dizzy and totally spaced. My muscle pain is also still bad. I became disabled in 2003, but my health started to decline with some swollen lymp nodes in legs back in 1990.
I am pretty sure it is lyme because I remember reading about tick diseases at that time in my dads encyclopedia after finding a tick on me. The article I read stated that lyme is only found in NE, I was relieved. I rememberd this about 6 months ago, I remember it like it was yesterday.

No other advise to give. If your a spiritual person consider this a test. If you keep the faith you'll come out of this a better husband and father than before. As to treatment, the future looks very good so hang in there. Dont give up.

I know I'm not a guy but...talking has helped me through it tremendously! there are support groups, therapists, pastors ect. anyone that will listen to you vent weekly or bi-weekly is a godsend..

You can do some really crappy security work. The pay sux but it's good for recovery time. Yep, I know the pinehurst area. I moved to atascocita about 8 years ago. Today it's BIG! It'll have a 5A highschool next year.

Brent, I would say its a small world but atascocita is a huge neiborhood. It still is very cool to meet someone here that lives where I grew up. When I lived there I was attending elementary school in Humble and then moved to a new school in atascocita. I think it was a 15 minute walk from the house but it always took us two hours because of the critters we had to catch.
Security gaurd is a good idea. I thought of that last year and applied for a job. It would have paid $200.00 a week. That sucks but better than nothing right. To work I would have to put kids in daycare and that would be right at $225.00. Oh well. What I need is a job I can do at home. I made a mistake one day when I typed "work at home" into my browser. I was bombarded with all sorts of BS scams.

Bothrops, Is there any possibility you could do small and simple wiring for homeowners in your area? Work at your own pace and time outs when you want them? Or fix electrical items in your home?? I always have a raft of stuff I would rather fix than throw away and it costs way too much to send in to companies. They OVERCHARGE like crazy!!! I got dx in june, i have seen 12 docs before finding one that i liked, and was actually llmd. its crazy because i live in lyme country here you would think there would be no problem getting good treatment. i was so dumb in the begining i thought three weeks and back to my normal life, boy was i wrong. i am paying all out of pocket, my ins. company wont cover anything really and i am getting to a point were i wonder if i can even afford my car payment anymore. i am scared, and depressed but what can you do? i just turned 30 two weeks ago and this summer bought a new boat and finally had saved money to buy my first house, well needless to say there will be no house buying and anyone looking for a nice fishing boat? i have applied for aid, and unemployment, and short term diablility but have heard nothing back yet. and i have a new appt with a new doc named dr. P end of next month and he wants to do all new run up with igenex, i can start to see now that this is not just about having the strength to hang in there but the bank account to do so as well. i just started taking juice plus about 3 months ago and i like the product so much that i have decided to sign up as a distributor at least i can make a couple of bucks, until then i need to try to stay positive, i have not worked in six months and like i said i totally know where your coming from. When you go to the lyme disease foundation web site they show people's stories like ours and how much money they have spent fighting this fight and i about fell of my chair seeing numbers in the hundreds of thousands. I wish that there was more uniformed information on this disease that all doctors could understand. i live about 5 minutes from LYME CT where lyme was more or less reconized and people act like it doesnt really exist and that it is not a problem. HELLO PEOPLE, WAKE UP......All you have to do is get on this site for five minutes to realize how real this problem really is...oh well just venting sorry.... we could all go in on powerball together...ha ha ha

I was dxed for MS in 1997 and dxed for lyme in June 2005. I am one of the lucky ones. I have not missed a day of work.
DJ - Dr. P is a good guy and very knowledgeable. Be prepared to pay $1,000 out of pocket - $575 for the exam and $395 for the Igenex tests. Also, you may want to ask for an Igenex 'Fish' test to test for Babasia. You may to eat before you get there as there are no decent lunch places nearby.

What is the Igenex 'Fish" test for babs? My LLMD did a babs panel on me but was neg, yet I have babs symptoms and herx on art. Is it more accurate than the regular panel?
