OMG, no one told me that the TOA free Cats Claw drops contain ethanol-did any of you know that? Both the kind from nutramedix (the one I have ) and the one from allergy research contain 20-25 % ethanol in a 5 drop serving!

Should I switch to the capsules then? If I do, his there a way to cut down the capsule intake?

Maybe thats why my stomach is burning!!

hi,nancy, i've been taking liquid cat's claw (inner-bark extract in alcohol) lately, not sure if it's TOA free, and i noticed that burning in my stomach somewhat, but then i'm taking the dose stated on the bottle, which is 30 drops in liquid. according to information i read years ago, the most active cat's claw is from only the inner bark of Uncaria tomentosa, which is what i'm using currently. i am also alternately taking capsules of the same which is combined with Echinacea and Astragalus. since i started this, i have been having lots of days when i have more energy, less rheumatic symptoms, especially after doing some cleansing and lymph massage.i was also on 100mg Minocin for 3 alternating days/week in Oct/Nov. don't know your situation, but i know that cat's claw is good stuff from previous use. hope it helps you!

Hi,
I take Cats Claw, just started 3 a time, 3 times a day, yesterday. Have been gradually building up my dosage according to the Healing Lyme book.

But, I also take the COMPLETE Cats Claw, NOT the TOA free extract, (like the book recommends), it is supposed to be better for you.

I was taking it in tablet form, but now am taking it in capsule form.

Not sure HOW FAST the capsules disintegrate, but thinking that maybe it could leave the stomach before totally leaving the gel capsule so maybe easier on the stomach.

The main side affect of Cats Claw IS intestinal upset. So I guess we have to expect it at least some.

I've also been taking Cat's Claw for the last 5 months - 2 capsules twice a day. It is pure Cat's Claw - not TOA free. This is a site with lots of information and research about it...http://www.rain-tree.com/

I have never had a problem with my stomach when taking this (and I'm also taking Doxy and Zithromax).

Some of the active ingredients documented and researched in Cat's Claw are 6 oxindole alkaloids. These alkaloids have been documented worldwide by independent research and patented to nutritionally support the immune system.* The main TOA alkaloid, isorhynchophylline, has been documented and patented to increase immune function (phagocytosis). There is a lot of information regarding the TOA controversy on the website above.
