Im completely ignorant about Nystatin except to know it is for yeast. I have had no problem until I started Tetracycline and then its constipation from he!!.
One other post said Nystatin had too much sugar. This made no sense to me. An antifungal with sugar. Can anyone enlighten me about the contents and different forms.
I did a search but am just too dull to sort it out.
In the mean time Im experimenting with the different natural things. So far mega flax seed seems to make it worse. I tried psyllium a long time ago and had the same response. Perhaps they are in the same family and Im allergic. I cant eat any wheat either.
Im now trying mega magnesium oxide. We shall see. The chlorella was a wonder until I started the tetra and then all the benefits just seemes to stop and I do mean stop.
Can you believe Im here on the world wide net talking about poop?????????? Pitiful!!!!! At least Im laughing. They say laughing is good for ones well being. Do you think it will make me poop better? OK I'l stop all this nonsense

Nystatin caps work really well at getting rid of the yeast in the gut.
Are you on a no sugar-low carb diet?This helps the best for yeast.
For me lately keeping the yeast at bay has been adding the new probiotic Theralac.It's pricy but worth it.
I don't just take Theralac but mix it up with my other pro-biotics.

Actually-I'm taking liquid nystatin and I'm not a kid!! It has really helped with my yeast infection and I'm not having any problems with it at all. I'm also taking Nexium for my stomach pain and that has helped too.

Wow, I saw this post and it was quite interesting. I posted a message about a strange rash I had. I was taking several herbal supplements and one of them being flaxseed oil. I have lyme and was taking Ceftin for about 10 months now. I recently broke out in a rash on my breast area. I really had problems with yeast but have not had in a long time plus I have been taking a probiotic. I have been taking the flaxseed for about 2 months now and then got a rash. Everyone suggested yeast and now I am wondering when I saw this post if it isn't the flaxseed that made the yeast worst and came to the surface of my skin. It is very itchy and I have had it now for over a week. I'm seeing a dermatologist soon. HE looked at it once and didn't know what it was. He gave me a steroidal cream (Triamcilone) which did not help. I have been puting Caldryl clear on it which knocks down the itching somewhat but it is still there.

I started Nystatin 2 weeks ago when my LLMD suspected my itching was caused by yeast. He warned me that I might get the runs. Yeah, right. It had the opposite effect. I now take Senekot and Colace for constipation, which has ALWAYS been a big problem for me.
He told me the same thing about the anti-biotics. Nothing, but nothing gives me the runs.

I took 4 nystatin tablets a day for months while on antibiotics and didn't have any problems with yeast. None. And my diet was good but I didn't follow a special diet by any means. (I don't normally eat much sugar).
If I go back on antibiotics (which I hope to after the C. diff ends), I plan on resuming the nystatin.

Yep, liquid nystatin contains sugar. Go figure! Sounds pretty stupid to me.
I've taken the nystatin caps along with my abx for years. [I'm currently off abx, but continue to take the nystatin.] I think it really helps keep the yeast at bay.
